Halloween Happenings

October 03, 2011 By: Jeriicco Category: Legends News

October is upon us and with that comes the Halloween Events for 2011.  The Legends community has been very active the last few days tracking down Jack-o-Lanterns and collecting the goodies they drop on their corpses.  I have also heard that the Trick or Treat activity is also active, though I have not attempted to beg for a treat myself.

Many in the community have begun to prepare for an eventful month.  I have heard rumors of several planned Halloween parties, haunted houses and hopefully even a house deco contest.

The search for Jack-o-Lanterns is quite simple.  Throughout Britainia one can find several crop fields.  During the autumn season these fields grow pumpkins and every now and again a Jack-o-Lantern will spawn.

If you attempt to pick up the Jack-o-Lantern it will transform into a monster and attack you.  If you are lucky enough to dispose of the monster you can check the corpse for goodies which include candy, painted masks and probably some stuff I have not discovered yet.  The painted masks will bare the name of an EM, Moderator or another important person in the UO community.  Who will collect the most masks?  I imagine EM Miko and EM Helios painted masks will be highly sought after on Legends.

To the best of my knowledge the Trick or Treat event works as so.  A player can say “Trick or Treat” and a target cursor should appear.  Then targeting an NPC should yield one of several “treat” items or a “trick” of a nasty surprise.  Treats include food or candy but I have not received any so ask around or try yourself to discover the treats.  Tricks can include making your character bleed all over, blowing your character up (leaving body parts all over), and changing your character into another form such as a spider.  Again, these are the happenings of past events as I have not attempted to beg myself so I’m not sure if things have changed this year.   Sometimes, players with GM Begging will have a rare chance at an extra special treat item.  I invite those of you who have had success begging this season to post your findings on the forums.

I hope to see you all taking part in the festivities and look forward to participating myself.  HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Khaldun Research

October 03, 2011 By: Jeriicco Category: Legends News

The Legends book club, which tries to meet every Sunday at 8pm EST, has been studying the Khaldun Dungeon in recent weeks.  Several brave souls ventured into the depths of the dungeon and have recovered a set of Journals left by researchers who had fallen victim to the creatures and mysteries of Khaldun.  These recovered journals have been placed in the basement of the Jhelom Library.  Most of the journals are in a pouch on the table to the left, but two of the journals can be found on the large table.

All the players of Legends are invited to copy these journals so they can have a set for themselves.  To complete this one must gather twenty eight blank books, the larger purple ones found on several NPCs, and twenty eight red leaves.  The red leaves can be harvested from Bright Red Ponytail Palms, Bright Red Elephant Ear Plants and Bright Red Century Plants.  Or search the vendors as several players sell these leaves.

Once you have gathered these materials simply make your way to the basement of the library and copy each one of the journals using the inscription skill.  You do not need to have the inscription skill to copy the books.  Simply open your skill menu choose inscription then click the book you wish to copy and then target the book you wish to copy it into.

Once you copy a journal use a red leaf to lock the script.  After completing this step put all the books together in a pouch and drop them into one of the two mailboxes outside the Communications Center found in Britain next to the EM Hall.

EM Miko will color the books with a special dye which is unique to the book club books we read every week.  You have until next Sunday 10/9 to complete this task if you wish to have a set of the books.

Sea Dragon Meeting 10-3-11 6pm EST

October 01, 2011 By: Jeriicco Category: Legends News

A new meeting has been called for by Armondo Pascal regarding the Mythical Sea Dragons.  Research on the now, as far as we know, full grown icy sea dragon will begin.  Please come to the Jhelom Tavern at 6pm EST on Monday Oct. 3.  The tavern, known as the Horse’s Head, can be found just west of the Jhelom moongate in Trammel.

The creature is currently being held at Serpents Hold along with its parents and I encourage you to see the dragon for yourself as it is quite the spectacle.

With the escaped pirate Mario on the loose and the missing scales reported by Armondo Pascal I would expect more danger and adventure to be coming shortly to this event.  Let us not forget the extreme challenge we faced not to long ago when we encountered the Bal’ Throns in the mountains near Minoc.

Mystery still surrounds the evil mage we encountered that night, based on the writings in Irene’s journal we have identified him as Lord Mordraith.  Warriors, detectives, herders and all the players of Legends are invited to attend this meeting and I hope to see you there.

With the maturity of the Fiery Sea Dragon Legends now has four adult mythical sea dragons.  All the dragons have been herder to Serpents Hold for futher observation.  Make your way to the docks on the eastern side of Serps Hold to catch a glimpse of these creatures and don’t forget to attend the meeting tonight, 10/3 @6pmEST.

Mesanna Visits the Legends’ Herders

September 30, 2011 By: Jeriicco Category: Legends News

Armondo Pascal called for yet another meeting to discuss the events surrounding the Mythical Sea Dragons.  Armondo explained that the possibility of Mario the pirates escape was very real.  Armondo also seemed to have lost some of the Bal Thron and Mythical Sea Dragon scales that followers had gathered weeks before.  His only explanation was that Mario was responsible.  The full abilities of these scales is still unknown but Armondo believes the two different scales, Bal Thron and Mythical Sea Dragon, can balance each others powers out.  He also noted that the two younger Dragons, Icy and Fiery, may also have the same balancing factors.  He then advised Legends to keep the two sea dragons close together, if possible, in case the powers do indeed need to be balanced.  This will require the herding of the two dragons to a safe place for holding and observation.  Serpents Hold was suggested and seems to be a logical place to keep them because its natural water ways make it very easy to contain the dragons.  Because of the escape of the last infant sea dragon Armondo advised everyone to keep a very close eye on the remaining dragons to ensure their safe keeping.  The chance of Mario butting his ugly head in to disrupt the dragons is very possible.

After the meeting Armondo gathered seven followers who had collected and turned in both a fiery and icy coral.  The corals seemed to be products of the feedings from both the younger dragons and their gathering was a difficult and deadly task.  Mesanna then appeared and with her powers awarded those seven followers with special titles to honor their hard work.

After the meeting it was discovered that the icy dragon had developed into a full grown sea dragon.  We can only assume the fiery will soon follow and become an adult.

The most important thing to do now is to herd all the dragons to Serpents Hold and keep an eye out for Mario the pirate.  If you wish to help my suggestion would be to seek out one of the seven herders who have been deeply involved in the event.  They are as follows: Erigo, Alice Wonderland, Spelosty, Seledor, Bearded McNuge, Jedediah McNuge and Luc.  There are several other people who have valiantly spent their time helping in this event so ask your friends, neighbors, guild mates and alliance members to fill you in on what is happening.  Always watch for new lanterns placed by the EMs for upcoming events on the sea dragons and good luck to those who continue to press on with this event.

Looks like the icy and fiery coral that was turned in by the sea herders has found a new home!

Treasure Hunters Championship Recap

September 26, 2011 By: Jeriicco Category: Legends News

I must say it was an excellent turn out for the Legends Treasure Hunters Championships.  EM Helios opened the gates at around 8:30pm and crowds began to gather in the city of Nujelm at the large chess board.  Legends compiled a total of six teams consisting of at least four members each.  The VFW* guild was well represented as they were able to form three teams.  Teams were each given robes so members could be easily identified by color.  Then each team chose a name, a couple of my favorites were the pink team’s Zeke’s Raiders and the orange team’s Skara Diggers.

The guidelines for the hunt were then laid out by Helios.  Each team would have to complete six treasure hunter maps in order, each map progressing in difficulty from level one up to level six.  The first team to complete the level six map and have its captain return to Helios would be declared winner.  After some brief instructions and introductions fireworks initiated the competition.

It wasn’t long before VFW 3 returned with all the maps completed thus cementing the yellow robed hunters as champions.  Team VFW 3 was able to complete the maps in a rather astonishing time which couldn’t have been more then a half hour.

The remaining teams slowly trickled in with Zeke’s Raiders bringing up the rear returning in just under two hours time.  By the end a crowd of spectators had gathered and even EM Miko was in attendance.  The newly crowned Legends champions now have the privilege of issuing an open challenge to the current treasure hunters champions amongst the other Ultima Online shards with hopes that the Treasure Hunters Championship Trophy will find its way onto the Legends shard.  The fun had to end eventually and after the final announcement by Helios he departed in rather spectacular fashion.

Bravo to the Legends shard on an excellent event and good luck to VFW 3 in your future hunt!

Mythical Sea Dragons III

September 21, 2011 By: Jeriicco Category: Legends News

Armondo Pascal had reached his limits with Mario, the one remaining captive pirate.  His interrogations had failed to produce any information so he was left with no choice but to turn the pirate over to the thieves and scoundrels of Legends.

Once the mob of Legend’s mischievous bottom feeders surrounded the pirate he began to demand goods in exchange for information.  The thieves had no trouble acquiring what Mario had requested, though their methods of acquiring were certainly unlawful.

Once Mario was satisfied he informed the mob of a journal he prepared before his capture and the mob scattered in an attempt to retrieve the journal.  This led them to the northern shores of Yew where the journal was recovered.  Discovered within the readings of the journal was yet more information on the pirate’s plans and ideas towards the sea dragons.  Mario wrote of two locations both of which seemed to have some mysterious power.  One which emits icy energy and the other a fire energy.  The power was described as having the abilities to enhanced the speed at which infant sea dragons would grow.  Mario’s plans were to attempt to spawn and grow an infant at each location.  Some other important information was that the infants were to be fed leviathan meals once per day and the adults would get there regular servings or serpents, kraken and dolphins.  Once the news spread the followers of Legends set off to find these locations.  After a lengthy search by several ships and crew both locations were discovered.  The fire spot was found south of Haven almost in between Fire Island and Serpents Hold.  While the icy location was north east of the sacrifice shrine and south west of the snowy island where the honesty shrine can be found.

Since the disappearance of the adolescent sea dragon one can only imagine that it’s in the best interest of the players of Legends to deliver the adult sea dragons to the two locations for breeding.  Hopefully by the time this article hits the dragons will already be on there way.  For those who haven’t had a hand in herding the dragons now is the time to step forward.  Be sure to visit the camp north of Yew along the shore to read Mario’s journal.  Ask your neighbors and friends about the latest information on the sea dragons.  I hope to provide coordinates of the two locations ASAP.  Good luck to those who are noble enough to press forward in this ever evolving event.

I rushed the article last night so I’d like to include some more information this morning. First, it appears as Mario may have used the supplies the mob brought him to escape as he is no longer chained up. It is unclear what may have happened to him at this time, any information on his whereabouts would be helpful.

The coordinates of the two locations are as follows. The fire is roughly at 172 10 S/161 22 E and the icy at 124 16N/169 18E. It appears that some folks have safely herded the  adult dragons to the icy location and spawned a infant! Keep up the good work.

September Monthly Pet Battles Wrap Up

September 19, 2011 By: Jeriicco Category: Legends News

Tamers from all corners of Legends gathered for the monthly pet battles hosted by EM Helios. It was a decent turn out and the VFW* guild was well represented.

The creature of choice was Dragons, chosen by last months winner Lady Keeper of Dragons. After some great battles only two were left standing. Lord Earl and his trusty pet Blaze would face off against Lady Keeper of Dragons’ a brawler.

When the dust settled a brawler was the sole survivor and once again Lady Keeper of Dragons was crowned champion.

Everyone then followed Helios to the EM Hall in Britain for rewards. The choice for next month’s battle was in the hands of Lady Keeper of Dragons and after some intense debate Reptalons was the verdict. So tamers get out there and if you don’t have one already find and train up your reptalon.

I hope we have even more in attendance next month and I challenge all those tamers out there to train hard and see if they can knock off Keeper of Dragons next month.

Legends Mesanna Event

September 15, 2011 By: petra Category: Legends News

Mesanna popped in on the Legends Shard last evening. An announcement by EM Miko had the players of Legends scrambling to catch a gate to a secret location for a quick event.
Those who made the gate were in for a little game of roulette with Mesanna. The rules were simple, Mesanna gives you a  number between 1 and 12 and you roll the dice. If your dice hit the number you win! If your dice do not hit the number you are killed. Two lucky players survived and squared off in another game of luck to receive the Legends inscribed dice used in the event. It was a lot of fun and even the slain players walked away with an inscribed rose from Mesanna.

Perhaps the most exciting news from the event was the announcement that the players of Legends would soon have some creative and administrative input on an upcoming event.
Mesanna told those in attendance to start thinking of ideas on a player run event where a lot of the power would fall in the hands of the players, much like the power currently seen with the EMs. If you have any ideas or thoughts I suggest recording them and leaving a book in the EM Mailboxes located in Britain next to the EM Hall. I’m excited to see what the shard can come up with.

Feeding the Sea Dragons

September 14, 2011 By: petra Category: Legends News

Submitted by a Guest Writer – name withheld.

The commendable cast of ‘sea dragon herders’ has fallen into a steady routine of feeding the mythical beasts once per day. The sea dragons have been on a steady diet of both deep and regular sea serpents. About a week’s time has passed since the methods on feeding had been mastered by the folks of Legends. Little has changed since the feedings began. All the recovered scales from both the Mythical Sea Dragons and the Bal’ Thrans have been accounted for and are in safe hands.

This evening we had not fed the dragons due to some other activities and happenings. It was late in the evening when a few of the followers of Legends had gathered to feed the dragons that some odd occurrences began to take place.

It appears that Arius McNuge and I had been the only witnesses to the first of these two strange events. We had just finished slaying a regular sea serpent for the dragons to feast upon when an explosion of epic proportions, which appeared to have originated from one of the sea dragons, captured our attention. It was a massive explosion that made a big bang noise and spread several yards covering a large area. The explosion was bright blue in color, much like the color of the sea dragon’s scales. However, it did not seem to cause any harm to myself, Arius or the sea dragons.

I have seen two large explosions in the past that resemble this one. The color was quite similar to the cloud of debris given off from a successful cast of the Armageddon spell. The size and appearance of the blast was identical to the type of blast seen coming from the Bal’ Thran, only this one did not do any damage. We can only assume that the blast was a result of the feeding but it is unknown at this time.

At nearly the same time of the blast another occurrence took place. Luxon Artisan had discovered that Armondo Pascal’s dog Franchesco was on the loose again and wandering the town of Jhelom. Several of Legends finest had gathered to identify the pup and track him as we suspected he may lead us to another clue. Unfortunately he just continued to wonder about and was last seen inside the Jhelom Armory.

We suspect that these two events are related but are not for certain. For now we must continue to feed the dragons regularly in hopes that soon there will be a young Mythical Sea Dragon amongst us. It has also been advised that the citizens of Legends keep a close eye on Franchesco, as we know he can pick up a trail and point his nose and us towards more clues involving the Mythical Sea Dragons. I encourage all to investigate further and submit any data recorded to the EM mail box.

Mythical Sea Dragons II

September 14, 2011 By: petra Category: Legends News

Submitted by a Guest Writer – name withheld.

Approximately four days after the first pirate interrogation and the containment of the mysterious Mythical Sea Dragons we’ve uncovered more valuable information and endured a lengthy battle. After securing the Sea Dragons on the SW side of Nujelm the community of Legends began to study and investigate these unknown creatures. The only significant info gathered appeared to be that the dragons seemed to be feeding on fish in their contained area. With nothing left to work with we turned our attention back to the captive pirates.

Armondo Pascal called for another public interrogation of the two captive pirates Mario and Markos. Much more of the pirates plan was revealed and it was discovered that one of the sea dragons was to be delivered by the pirate Irene to a location NW of Vesper. Armondo recalled slaying Irene which was confirmed by the admittance by the pirates that they were the only two remaining alive of the crew. The followers of Legends set off to investigate the area NW of vesper and we found ourselves in the location that Franchesco had sniffed out days before. The trail led us to a mountain path where a chase began and ended quickly in a cave. It appeared to be an Evil Mage but he disappeared into a hole in the cave before he was identified, shortly after a great battle ensued. Several different types of unknown Dragons began to spawn throughout the mountain pass. It is difficult to remember because of the heat of the battle but I recall around 5 Dragons all together. They all were in the Bal Thran family with at least four variations being encountered: Adolescent, Minion, Infant and regular Bal Thrans. The Bal Thran was the largest and most difficult to take down. The battle lasted several hours and in the end the beasts were slain. Their corpses turned up some scales although it is unclear if they were from the mythical sea dragons or off the Bal Thrans themselves. It has been reported that at least 3 Mythical Sea Dragon scales have been recovered but where when and how is unclear to me at this moment.

We then returned to the two captive pirates where we found a journal left by Marko outlining the pirate’s research and plans for the sea dragons. It was recorded that Markos was to gather the three remaining sea dragons, of which one he would give to Irene for the trade. The remaining two were to be taken to a place with plentiful food supply for safe keeping and breeding. The journal informed us that the sea dragons require two sea serpents a day to feed and stay healthy to spawn or breed. Also discovered was a journal left by Irene near the location of the battle with the Bal Thrans. This journal revealed the name of the evil mage as Lord Mordraith. Much is still unknown about the evil mage or the possible death or disappearance of Irene which Armondo seemed to think he had killed. What is known is that this mage has both great wealth and either great power and or influence over these Bal Thran Dragons. We also know that when we set out to see the sea dragons we came across an injured one that died, leaving only the two sea dragons. So if Irene is alive then she could have been responsible for the death of that first sea dragon we discovered, which could also mean that the meeting still took place between Irene and Mordraith.

We managed to herd two deep sea serpents to the mythical sea dragons but something unexpected occurred as we attempted to feed them. The serpents needed to be killed for the sea dragons to feed and the deep sea serpents appeared to have extra strength and required a lengthy battle before they were ready for the sea dragons to feast upon. There were sea dragon scales recovered from the corpses of the deep sea serpents. Possibly the close proximity of the serpents to the dragons was the cause for the boost in energy and strength but it is only a hypothesis. As of now we are attempting to keep the sea dragons fed waiting for a possible offspring as the pirates had foretold. Until then we will have to investigate with the clues we have which are the scales recovered and the information gathered on Lord Mordraith and Irene.
