[Player Event] Moonglow Gardens

October 29, 2013 By: Faeryl Category: Atlantic News

It was a time of trouble throughout the Kingdom. Pirates near Jhelom, Plague in Trinsic, and a Governor in Britain worse than any plague… and random raiders invading every town. And yet, even through it all, Moonglow quietly prospers.

Governor Tazar surveyed the town with an eye towards enhancing the visual appeal. The Gardens by the bank were well tended, but the plaza in the center of town was a monotonous plain green. Perhaps a plan to convert the teleport plaza into a colorful garden? The more the potential was reviewed the better it sounded. Yes – a bright colorful center to the city ready to greet visitors to the Lycaeum and the Telescope and the Zoo.

A call went out for the best Gardeners and Landscape Architects to assist with the plan. After many interviews, Thomas Evergreen, an Assistant of the Mage Relvinian, was hired.

Governor Tazar quickly described his vision to Sir Evergreen of an Amazing Garden filled with tall plants and bright colors to relieve the monotony and then presented Thomas with space to do a scale test of his plans.

Days turned into weeks and weeks onto months and yet Thomas never returned to present his plan. With growing concern, Governor Tazar finally began a search for Sir Evergreen.

The test area for the garden was locked up tight…

The various gardeners and growers reported that Thomas had not been seen for weeks.

The Evergreen house stood unused with no evidence of its owner…

Finally, a small Diary was found in the Evergreen house and brought to Governor Tazar. The last few entries quickly added to the concern.

“The Garden progresses well, though why Governor Tazar want’s “A Maze Garden” in the center of town is beyond me. The spells of sowing and growing that I learned from my Master Relvinian have come in handy to design another maze. While not on the scale of my Master’s southwest of Britain, I have learned of a way to compress the maze into various levels. This will certainly confound the travelers trying to make use of the Teleporters in the center of town.”

“The maze looks almost completely grown from the outside, but I am not sure if the spells have worked properly to lay out the proper passages within. I simply can not tell from the outside”

“Governor Tazar will be quite upset if the test is not complete soon. I must present him with a finished plan that he can see soon.”

“I just can’t tell if the design is right or not. There is no other way but for me to venture inside and check every passage within. I must hurry to report back to Governor Tazar. Checking every passage could take some time so must be sure to carry food and supplies for a few days”.

Returning to the test site, Tazar forced open the entry to see a daunting wall of foliage and twisting passages leading seemingly in all directions. Locating Thomas Evergreen within would take a team effort.

Returning to the Moonglow Governors Office, Governor Tazar drew up the following proclamation.

“Moonglow hereby requests the assistance of all able bodied adventurers to aid in the recovery of Thomas Evergreen who appears to be lost in a maze. Please meet at the Lycaeum at 7pm eastern on Saturday, November 2nd, 2013. Prizes will be awarded to the first three to reach Thomas Evergreen.

1st place: A Soulstone Token
2nd place: A Vollem in a Crystal and a Race Change Token
3rd place: A Soulstone Fragment Token and a Race Change Token”

October 25, 2013 By: Flair Category: Atlantic News

Greetings!

It gives me great pleasure to announce…

The Treats of Halloween!
Due to take place immediately after the Kings Meeting this Sunday 27th,
which is scheduled to finish around 9pm EST.
As soon as the meeting closes, gates will be available from the bridge to King Blackthorn’s castle and will whisk adventurers away to the first of our three challenges…
A Mazzing Madness!
Makeila and the folks from [UWF] have constructed a torturous labyrinth for our enjoyment on this evening. Can you be the first to work your way through this maddening construction of horrifying hallways and devilish doors? You will only have a single hour to succeed, and in all honesty, we do not think anyone will be savvy enough to find the end of this baffling monstrosity.
Prizes (Sponsored by Skara Brae)
1st : A rare Mesanna Jack-o-lantern (black with yellow flame).
2nd : Three developer heads on spikes.
3rd : Three carvable pumpkins with kits.
+ Prizes for all who make it through within the hour time limit.
As one the very few to have seen this maze in advance, I can say with absolute certainty-
You do not want to miss this!
Once the initial hour at the maze is up, gates will transport the party on to…
The Jack Of Lanterns
[IMG]
As a special treat for our guests we have booked a visit from The Jack of Lanterns! A fabled and wealthy creature, The Jack only appears during the Halloween season. He will sail into Trinsic harbor, his boat loaded down with treasures won from many a rich and witless merchant. After securing his ship, he will issue a challenge to drunkards and dignitaries alike. Play him at his favorite game “Lanterns”. Wager if you please, or not if you don’t, it makes no difference to The Jack. He will play you for the fool you are, just the same.
Prizes (Sponsored by Trinsic and you!)
The prize pool will grow with every wager lost to The Jack, who will also lay down his own treasures each match. Should a worthy challenger best The Jack, as if anyone could, they may claim the fortune amassed upon his tables.
With random invasions terrorizing our cities, the Trinsic City Guard will be setting up a temporary safe zone to protect our guests enjoying this game on the docks. And while The Jack entertains, and if the streets are clear, everyone is invited to roam the city and participate in…
The Annual ARPC
Trick or Treat
[IMG]
The Atlantic Role Playing Community has selected Trinsic as the host for its annual Trick or Treat event. Throughout the western half of the city several buildings will be decorated in Halloween style, and manned by people carrying heavy sacks filled to the top with both treats, and tricks. Have a stroll around our beautiful sandstone streets, visit our many establishments, and fill your packs with all things naughty and nice!
Prizes…
Only Lady Luck can say.

Event guide books will be available at all locations, so be sure to grab yourself a copy early in the night.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

Atlantic Governor Interviews – Trinsic

October 19, 2013 By: Flair Category: Atlantic News

I got together with each of the governors and asked them about their cities and plans. With all the controversies and rumors about I wanted to give each governor a chance to “clear the air as it where” and give everyone a chance to get to know them and what they intend to do for their respective cities. Each city faces it’s own unique set of challenges and I want to give the governors a chance to address these issues in a neutral forum so everyone could come to their own conclusions.

Fifth is the Governor of Trinsic, Lord Lew and here is what he had to say…
trinsicguard
What are your current plans for Trinsic?

Currently we are setting up there entities within the city.
A. The City Council, consisting of 8 seats that will vote on all issues within Trinsic. The council will be at first appointed, but then after we have a greater number of citizens, the council will be elected by the people of Trinsic.
B. The Honor Guard, a formal guild of warriors that will take up the defense of the city in times of need, as well as being available to the King if need arises in Sosaria. We are training Sampires at the moment, but plan to expand to other disciplines soon. We also plan to begin hunts to all the great dungeons and foreign places in the lands new and old. This guild will not be one of puffed up egos and authoritarian rule, rather it will consist of adventurers that wish to protect our city as well as adventure throughout the lands.
Armorylew1
C. An Artisans cooperative that will assist in the rebuilding of Trinsic, and re-armoring of its city guard.
these three items will be our main focus this term, but there will be fun mixed in. We plan to host another Fishing Competition in November, and are active with manning other cities for the month of October, assisting in their festivities.

Franklew3

What obstacles does Trinsic face if any?

Trinsic’s biggest obstacle is and always has been the push into new lands. These lands added more areas for citizens of Sosaria to build homes and offered larger cities that have home sites within protected walls. The finding of these new lands drew the population away from cities such as Trinsic, and our biggest obstacle is creating an environment that draws them back. Another obstacle is convincing a few of its shopkeepers to come down off of their roves. Since the great invasion, some have taken to living on the roof, as it was the only way to survive during those times.

What factors have contributed to Trinisc’s growth and success?

The greatest factor in Trinsic’s growth and success is the love and dedication of its citizens. Trinsic was once a great city simply because of the love its inhabitants had for it. This love did not diminish as the population moved to other lands, it is in fact still there. Bringing those citizens back to the home they once new rekindles the fire at once was, the city has a way of doing that. One citizen stand out among the rest however, and without him, I feel Trinsic would still be stagnant. Soar moved back to the city and opened the Surf Shack just outside the South gate, right on the little beach there. His tireless dedication to the city and energy in is process has pushed myself and others to new levels of commitment. I would be remiss if I did not thank him for it, but also know that he does not require it. He is a great asset to the growth and success of our city.
Surf Shacklew4

How has Trinsic changed during your term(s) in office?

Trinsic has gown in population since I took office, and life is slowly returning to our city. Its port is active again, and the fishing industry is booming. We have developed new trade partners that have allowed us to build a distillery at the docks, and have begun to export some of Sosaria’s finest rum. I have also been a factor in the removal of an illegal button factory that was housed in Trinsic. It is my belief that these buttons would have confused the youth of Sosaria and pulled us into a dark age. Just say no to Buttons…
distillerylew2

What sets Trinsic apart from the others?

Our great city walls are matched only by the greatness of our hearts. In a nutshell it is Honor that sets Trinsic apart from other cities. Not that other cities do not contain this virtue, but Trinsic lives by this virtue, is ruled by it in fact. It is that dedication to the virtue of Honor that sets it apart from other cities.
honor_sml

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Only that if you remember a time long ago, a time of community and friendship. A time when greed and power did not rule the day, but adventure and friendship were the standard, then Trinsic is the city for you. Come experience that which you may have lost, that feeling of community and adventure. Come be reborn to the person you once were and wish to be again.

Atlantic Governor Interviews – Vesper

October 16, 2013 By: Flair Category: Atlantic News

I got together with each of the governors and asked them about their cities and plans. With all the controversies and rumors about I wanted to give each governor a chance to “clear the air as it where” and give everyone a chance to get to know them and what they intend to do for their respective cities. Each city faces it’s own unique set of challenges and I want to give the governors a chance to address these issues in a neutral forum so everyone could come to their own conclusions.

Fourth is the Governor of Vesper, Lady Khalessi and here is what she had to say…
vesperguard

What are your current plans for Vesper?
On the onset of this term, I promised to continue to cultivate Vesper to grow even stronger than the first term. We have started the Justicar Navy and Justicar Guard with Lochmor and Alward as the leads. We had a great drill Friday eve on one of the Britannian ships with a quite a few new citizens and it went very smoothly. Many commented on what fun they had.
vesper4
We have started having bi-weekly meetings to discuss items that are pertinent and important to Vesper’s citizens and have had many other visitors as well. We wish to promote goodwill and kinship among the other towns and create a lot of collaborative play that will promote good rapport. We have been working with Minoc’s Yosef who will be jumping around the towns to promote hunting activity in a community format. We’d like to eventually have a Tavern Night at the Marsh Hall and are working out the specifics for that. We are always promoting the commerce aspect of Vesper and have been fortunate to engage the help of Tatianna Thorn and the Emerald Trading Company to bring that to Vesper.
vesper1
We hope to work with Maginicia in the coming days to host a Commerical Event that will build on that as well. We have our Oktoberfest coming this next week on Saturday which we have worked hard to have all towns represented to bring the best Beers of their lands to show off! Yew’s Faeryl and Corinthian have created two of the main events. In November, we will be working closely with Nujelm’s Sultan who has invited all the Governor’s to a “Retreat”. I guess to summarize it all in few a few words, when you hear Vesper you consider it synonymous with “community active”.

What obstacles does Vesper face if any?
Obstacles=Hindrance-Difficulty-Complication- Impediments! Well, I am one of those glass half full types and don’t really like to concentrate too much on the negative. One of the biggest difficulties I think we face is our human nature. It is natural for us to be competitive in this type of scenario and communication is a key to keeping that in check before division creeps in and makes its mark. I think that is the biggest obstacle that any town, Vesper included, will face. We saw that in the beginning of the second term escalate, but with alot of diplomacy it was diffused.

What factors have contributed to Vesper’s growth and success?
Well, that is obvious! It’s the people who support Vesper. Not only the citizens but the friends who support other towns who continue to interact together every day! The Citizens I have met since governing Vesper are loyal, enthusiastic, creative, and friendly people. So many times when I am sitting at the bank, I hear people say, “this bank is always so inviting, people talk to you”. I have logged on characters no one knows and recalled to the bank, and am always welcomed with a greeting. And Friends, I must say I am blessed with so many of them: Great minds: creative, strategic. Hard working, and Long suffering! They are not afraid to keep me in line if I should so step off occasionally.

How has Vesper changed during your term in office?
When I first took office in July, Vesper was a ghost town. Quacklebush was such a dear to keep me company for hours on end, waiting for the occasional person to recall to the Mint of Vesper. In doing that, we met some wonderful people who we call friends now. There are times now that it might be quiet but on any given day at one point, you can usually expect to see a group discussing the day’s events. In saying that, I’d say that Vesper is now known for activity, whether day to day or its monthly events. We saw a great change at the beginning of the first term with the effects of the Embargo. Rumors of drinks being watered down, treason and so on were widespread. Thankfully our King took things in hand, lowering the tax and Magincia and Vesper’s ties were restored. It was a trying time to say the least but I feel Vesper is a better place now because of it. It reminds me of a quote I read not long ago from a influenical political figure of long ago.“These are the times in which a genius would wish to live. It is not in the still calm of life, or the repose of a pacific station, that great characters are formed. The habits of a vigorous mind are formed in contending with difficulties. Great necessities call out great virtues. When a mind is raised, and animated by scenes that engage the heart, then those qualities which would otherwise lay dormant, wake into life and form the character of the hero and the statesman.” Abigail Adams.
vesper2

What sets Vesper apart from the others?
I hate to be redundant but it is the people who make up Vesper, the citizens, the visitors who come to shop, bank and peruse our land. Vesper is such an unassuming quaint town, joined by bridges, surrounded by lands with many homes, and accepting of all whether noble or tradesman, beggar or rogue like. It is an island made up of many islands, fifteen to be precise and has been called the city of bridges. Vesper is well aware that it’s well being is dependent on the fisherman who fishes from the dock, the customer that shops at our local fair and the good people of our land who persistently explore the vast land span the makes up the town. It is home to the Fisherman’s Guild, as its main industry is fishing. It houses the Vesper Museum which was Britania’s first and only. Vesper’s history has shown that it has always been a land that stands apart and unwilling to conform. Perhaps why it is the one city that lacks a virtue. Of course, that is something we are trying to change and in light of what I just said, The King’s suggestion regarding Chaos just might fit! Of course, that will be a matter to discuss at our next Town Meeting. Beware.
Chaos

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Please allow me to announce a few dates you may wish to mark on your calendar. Vesper will host “Ocktoberfest” on Oct. 19th, Sat. We invite all to join us in celebration, it will be a compilation of Harvest, Halloween and Happy Hour!

Recently the Sultan of Nujelm contacted me and wishes to invite the Governor’s to a Retreat at his palace. A date of November 9th has been mentioned and I await further details.

One of our faithful fisherman in Vesper has requested a “Royal Regatta” with which would require the assistance of all towns promoting community. Thellaran wishes to contact all governors regarding the pursuit of his vision. He mentioned December would be an appropriate time.

I close with this aspiration: “Community cannot for long feed on itself; it can only flourish with the coming of others from beyond, their unknown and undiscovered brothers.” Howard Thurman

Atlantic Governor Interviews – Yew

October 14, 2013 By: Flair Category: Atlantic News

I got together with each of the governors and asked them about their cities and plans. With all the conversarys and rumors about I wanted to give each governor a chance to “clear the air as it where” and give everyone a chance to get to know them and what they intend to do for their respective cities. Each city faces it’s own unique set of challenges and I want to give the governors a chance to address these issues in a nuetral forum so everyone could come to their own conculsions.

Third is the Governor of Yew, Captn Norrington and here is what he had to say…
yewguard
What are your current plans for Yew?
My current plans for the city of Yew, are to focus on improving the city, hosting events for the citizens, and establishing a good relationship with the other cities.

What obstacles does Yew face if any?
Currently, Yew faces the obstacle of a few citizens having a difference on opinion on whether or not they should work with me, the majority of the citizens are happy to participate, and I will do my best to win over the few citizens who currently do not wish to.

What factors have contributed to Yews growth and success?
Yew has always had a very strong community, and because of this, the citizens have always been very happy to help each other in any way that they can for the betterment of the community, this has caused Yew to grow and succeed very quickly, and remain strong at all times.
yew1
How has Yew changed during your term(s) in office?
Yew has changed quite drastically in my term in office, beginning with a riot at our city stone on election day, with anger all around, and slowly but surely changing to a peaceful community which is very active and helpful.
Yew Election

What sets Yew apart from the others?
Yew is set apart from the other cities, because there is so much history around, anywhere you go in Yew, there is history to be found. From Queen Dawn’s grave, to the elven city of Heartwood, to Empath Abbey and the winery, there are memories of good, and bad times, but the city has endured through them all.
queen dawn's grave

Is there anything else you would like to add?
I would like to add that I am honored to be able to serve the city of Yew as governor, and will do my best to make sure the city continues to prosper and succeed peacefully.

Community Hunts hosted by Yosef Part 2

October 11, 2013 By: Flair Category: Atlantic News

It’s hunt night!!
Tonight’s hunt will not be hosted by “Yosef”, but Tala the Wolf Ambassador & Vesper.
See you there!!

I knew when I saw the notice I was going again. I had such a wonderful time last time I just knew this time would be better. I readied my armor and spell books, got my bora out of the stables, and grabbed my shield. Off I went to the Vesper bank to see who was there…
comhunt2
There was even more people here then last time. I was excited and knew this would be a good evening. So off we marched again to Valor, but this time to confront the spiders that has taken over…
comhunt3
The battle was fierce, the spiders didn’t want to budge. We had a few casualties along the way as things got sorted out, but we all trudged on and made some progress.
comhunt4
Finally the boss, Mephitis, appeared and was quickly dispatched by a flood of warriors and pets. We didn’t waste any time…
comhunt5
Since we where so successful, we decided that we would march on to Honor and take on the rats that appeared there…
comhunt6
Barracoon appeared quickly to challenge us this time and we dispatched him even faster. *chuckles* It was a great night had by all and I’d like to thank Tala for hosting the event…
comhunt7
and Lady Khaleesi and Vesper for sponsoring this evenings hunt. It was a very good time had by all, and I defiantly recommend to all to come and join us next time and have some fun. I hope to see you all there!!!!

(Player Event) Open Fish Market! (Posponed to 11th)

October 10, 2013 By: Flair Category: Atlantic News

Greetings!

As we work to rebuild the Trinsic community, I would like to try an idea I had this week for an new service open to the entire realm.

The Fish Market

Where : Trinsic Docks, Trammel.
When : Friday, 11th Oct. 10pm EST -> Midnight

What It Is…

The Fish Market is a fish and bait open market and swap-meet, sponsored by Trinsic City and The Surf Shack (referred to below as the “House”).

The idea behind it is to help everyone keep their fish stocks even and functional for the professional fisher quests.

Basically the way it works is you bring along any fish, crabs, and lobsters you might have an excess of and trade them with other anglers or the House for types you are short of. For example, I always seem to have more Darkfish than I need, but never enough Orc Bass. :(

You can also sell or buy fish for gold, and we encourage people to try this out. There is even enough room for dock side stalls if you want to really make an impression. Prices are up to you, and everything negotiable, so don’t be afraid to haggle for that sweet deal.

The House will be opening the Surf Shack’s full inventory for trades, so we do have the capacity to fulfill some larger requests from guilds or other cooperative fish stocks. We will not be selling fish at the market however.

Fish are heavy. So please be sure to bring them in commodity deed form. There will be public boats available right there on the docks with a free supply of blank commodity deeds and moderated cargo holds. Hopefully this will eliminate the need to run to the bank. If you are working with smaller quantities then pack animals may suffice.

We also invite fisher folk to trade baits. There is guide below showing the approximate levels of rarity. I work a great deal with the professional fishing quest, and believe the numbers to be pretty accurate. Corrections are of course welcome.

Trades with the House will use these numbers, but trades between individual anglers are left to whatever deal is agreed upon.

Code:
FISH TYPE | Value |
=============|===========|

Purchases
The House will purchase fish for gold. The “Value” listed in the above chart is the house price in gold per unit. We invite other buyers to come to the market and shout their offers out loud. It adds to the fun and atmosphere, and helps the anglers of our community. The House will not change its prices to compete. These will be set at the start of the day and remain static.

Trades
Trading with the House will follow the above values. So…

Code:
Same Fish Types : 1 for 1
