[News] Of Wisps and Anvils

November 26, 2013 By: Faeryl Category: Atlantic News

Upon my arrival in Vesper Wednesday night, the city appeared to be once again overwhelmed by wisps.  Looking around for a reason for their being there, I heard whispers of a place known as Winter Spur; a snowy tundra in the mountains of Isamu-Jima. As I journeyed to Winter Spur, I came across the Lady Sofia Elias, who was also curious about the wisps. Upon our arrival, we found Winter Spur overridden with Drones, and that the Governor of Vesper, Lady Khaleesi, and Doctor Hawk, the High Physician of Britannia, were already there and speaking with what appeared to be the Wisp in command.

xorinitetalk

The Xorinite World-Builder was explaining to those gathered its intentions of remaking our world using the World Anvil; and that Zento was the foothold where they would commence. “Xorinite Stop Vesper Remake Zento Chosen Bargain Made Negative Resistance Dust Colorless Heatless Dust Fuel For Anvil To Remake” It claimed that the Xorinite were Pure, and that Sosaria was not true life, nor were we true lifeforms. With the remaking of Sosaria, our existence would be forfeit. It stated that the Timelord didn’t matter, as they were already here in our world.

Though the Timelord was the Gatekeeper, the door had been left unguarded. When Aleksandre Biggering bred the White Hind, he tipped the Balance, opening the door and allowing the Xorinite to enter. When the white fawns were destroyed, the balance was restored, and they were trapped. The World-Builder was adamant that our existence was forfeit and that resistance was impossible.

The next night, a large group travelled to Sheon’s lair in the mountains of Covetous, in order to speak with him regarding the impending threat of the Xorinite Wisps. Sheon explained that we did not seek to destroy the Xorinite, as it was not possible. Our objective was to steal back what they took. We were to steal back the World Anvil.

sheon

“Your King has signed a writ of war against the Xorinite. Will you ride?”

As we arrived to the entrance to the cave leading into Winter Spur, we were met by Lord Fabian d’Hardt, a rather interesting man whom I recall meeting once before during the plague of Trinsic. He had been sent by his Majesty, King Blackthorn, to fight the Xorinite.

inthecave

For the first several minutes, we attempted to push our way out of the cave and onto the tundra, all the while being forced back by Xorinite Drones. Lord Fabian’s voice rang out amid the roar of dragons and clash of steel “Caves are not for fighting, Advance upon the enemy!” We continued to fight, eventually breaking out onto the tundra of Winter Spur, and then things began to take a turn for the worse.

Wave after wave of Drones washed over the crowd, pushing us back as we struggled to move forward. Many stood their ground, and many fell. A mixture of shouts and resurrection incantations could be heard from all over as mages and skilled healers alike attempted to dodge the wisps and return the fallen spirits to their bodies. The calls of those wishing to retreat were met by Lord d’Hardt urging them to continue, to steal back the anvil before it was too late.

After what seemed like an eternity, Lord d’Hardt’s shouts could once again be heard over the din of combat “The Anvil has been stolen back from the Xorinite! Advance upon the world-builder!”

finalbattle

The battle was long and hard, with increasing numbers of drones appearing to aid the world-builder. Blades clashed, spells exploded and the roar of dragons filled the air. Despite their injuries and the numerous losses, this day, the people of Sosaria reigned victorious.

For The Attention Of The King – Trinsic Ward Response.

November 25, 2013 By: Flair Category: Atlantic News

Eric, Commander of the Trinsic Ward, raised his arms towards the ceiling of the armory and stretched the lethargy from his muscles. He had been sitting in contemplation of the news given to him by wardens Maki and Galathan earlier that morning. The governor of Trinsic had been arrested. Their sworn duty to protect him had been over-ruled by the, almost crazed words of the King.

The governor had specified they should not defy the orders of the crown.

However the oaths taken by every soldier under his command, to protect the governor, transcended these things, if only in the minds of his men.

It was a tricky situation, and he had come to his decision.

“Shinigami!” he called to the warden stationed outside the door.

“Sir?” A man stepped into the room, he stood with a relaxed tilt and wore a mischievous grin.

“Have the second battalion gear up and assemble at the west gate by night fall. We ride for Castle Blackthorn at dawn.”

“A sneak attack…Sir?” Shinigami’s grin expanded with delight.

“A talk, warden. I am forced to turn my hand to diplomacy.”

Shinigami stood looking at his commander for a moment. “Why am I not overcome with relief?”

Eric sighed. “Go about your orders warden.”

“Yes Sir.”

After a while Eric went to the sandstone window of his office and surveyed the troops moving in the grounds below. Just a mere six months ago these fields were all but empty. Now they overflowed with soldiers, all trained and equipped by the finest masters in the land. An army raised for the defense of Sosaria.

Why must foolish politicians insist on testing its loyalties so?

Do they think this all a game?

—————————————————————-

The Commander of the Trinsic Ward is on route to Blackthorn Castle and seeks an audience with either the King or a representative with the authority to speak on the matter of Governor Lew’s imprisonment. He and his troops come in peace, and wish to speak to ensure continued alliance between the lands capital, and the stronghold of Trinsic.

He will arrive on the morning of the 26th and will wait in the city for a response from the crown for four days.

Calling all citizens of Trinsic

November 25, 2013 By: Flair Category: Atlantic News

Citizens…

King Blackthorn has imprisoned our loyal governor Lew in the Yew prisons while the murderer Solus was set free. It is an outrage I tell you!!! I was there and witnessed it all. After he reinstated Solus to governor of Britian, he then took our beloved governor and imprisoned him for the Halloween festivities. The festivities that went on for our benefit even though our Wardens were busy turning back an invasion. Our Governor saw to it that we were both safe and that our planned festivities went on without a hitch that night. He took care of us and now I say we take care of him. I am requesting ALL citizens of Trinsic protest the wrongful imprisonment of our beloved Governor Lew by bring your torches and pitchforks to Castle Blackthorn tonight, November 25th at 830pm EST. Even if you are not Trinsic citzen and believe Lord Lew was wrongfully imprisoned please come out tonight to support us and making a statement to the King that we will not support this injustice!!!

An Amazing Garden – The Rescue of Thomas Evergreen

November 03, 2013 By: Flair Category: Atlantic News

An “Amazing Garden” is what was requested of Thomas Evergreen for Moonglow, and that’s what it was. After meeting Tazar in Moonglow adventurers where gated to the beginning of the garden with the hopes of locating Sir Evergreen who had become lost in his creation.
screenshot_089
Innocent enough looking garden…. till you realize Sir Evergreen is lost somewhere in here… To give you a perspective of this monstrosity a few pictures…
screenshot_088
There’s your prize…. simple enough right. Now take a look at this top floor to get the whole perspective…
screenshot_107
This monstrosity took Tazar and Flair 30 hours to build each, and was 12 floors total. It took 3310 hedges, 1564 gozas, 24 house teleport tile sets, and 1 ladder. What else to say about this other then devious, diabolical, twisted, and so on…. I will let the screenshots speak for themselves….

Twelve floors of twisting and winding paths with each floor containing 3 tiles that kicked you out and made you start over, 5 pitfalls dropping you down floors, and then there was falling off the edge of the house, and all only to find the one teleport tile to advance you to the next floor. There where only 2 people to actually complete the maze, Soar(just over 3 hours) and Sinful Obsession(3 hours and 20mins).
screenshot_110

Dalia and Alton Darkpick were given honorable third place for getting the next farthest along. We would also like to pass on a special thanks to Sinful Candy, Lady Lavender, and Queen Mum for helping with the hedges. Without their help the last floors wouldn’t have been completed. The houses are currently still public and can be reached through the teleport hub located just outside the South Gate of Luna across from the Fairgrounds(follow the red carpet). Find the one labeled Falling Waters Fortress and double click the statue. That takes you to the town banner and the first maze house is the 4th one south. I challenge all to go and give it a try and see if you can beat the 3 hour mark.

[News] Conseil Du Roi – October 27th

October 31, 2013 By: Faeryl Category: Atlantic News

There was drama brewing in the council chambers before Sunday night’s Conseil Du Roi had even begun. Governor Solus of Britain was heard offering ten million gold to any who assisted him in arresting Governor Lew of Trinsic; claiming that he was a danger to the realm and that the news of Trinsic that would be heard that night would prove it to all. He asserted that it would be done regardless of whether or not he had the consent of the King, and even attempted to solicit the aid of the Emerald Trading Company.

Shortly thereafter, King Blackthorn entered the chamber, and the meeting commenced. He announced that it would be a short meeting, and began by stating, in regards to the actions of Governor Solus, that if one wished to keep something a secret from their King, plotting in front of the Lord Dupre and Lady Amandine is not wise. He then issued the following proclamation:

“Governors are hereby immune to arrest and imprisonment, unless sanctioned with an arrest warrant, signed and sealed by the Crown.”

The second matter that the King addressed was the recent hunt of the white fawns. He noted no reports of sightings of any more of these creatures, and hoped that the White Hart and Hind remained unharmed. As for Aleksandre Biggering, he was ordered to be arrested and detained in Yew prison. King Blackthorn requested that any citizen who may find Biggering is to alert Governor Norrington of Yew so that he may be imprisoned for his crimes.

Next the King brought up the issue of the newest threat against the cities of the realm. It was brought to light that artifacts discovered on the captains and minions in these attacks carried armour and weapons bearing the crest of the Lady Minax. It did not take long for accusations to fly against Governor Solus, which he quickly refuted.

The final matter that the King presented was regarding Trinsic. He requested of Governor Lew a full briefing on the situation, from the beginning.

“Earlier this day I was notified of a problem in Trinsic; one of our Paladins was sick and refusing treatment. We called in Dr. Hawk from the ERT to assess him, at which point he proclaimed the man cursed. He quickly jumped out a window and ran about biting and scratching citizens. After several minutes of this behavior he quickly jumped back up and attacked our citizens again, however this time he was an undead creature. Several have been sighted and dispatched in our city sire. We believe we have destroyed them all, but we have the city on lockdown.”

The King, taking such an epidemic seriously, stated that he would he would work with suppliers in Britain to have supplies sent to Trinsic. Governor Solus declared that Britain would not aid Trinsic, and that the city should in fact be purged. He also had the audacity to call the King a fool and ranted at how the plague would spread across the realm, decimating the forces attempting to fight back the invasions. Ignoring him, King Blackthorn gave Governor Lew full recourse to do what he needed to in order to answer the threat in the city, and promised that the supplies would get there.

As Governor Solus continued to argue, Governor Khaleesi spoke up, wishing to alert the King to Sheon’s recent visit to Vesper. She spoke of how the sky seemed to rain wisps after a recent sighting of the White Hart, and how Sheon had come one to and engulfed them. She said that Sheon had spoken of the Time Lord, and of Scales and Balances. To this, the King gave a warning:

“I feel it a necessity to remind everyone, and warn everyone in relation to the Time Lord. In spite of our dear and absent friend Lord Wellings and his connection to the Time Lord, the Time Lord is not, our friend. The creature known as the Time Lord is an impartial and balancing force in our world. He swings both ways, both for Britannia… and against it. Be mindful in your dealings with him… her… it.”

With that, the King started addressing each Governor as usual, starting with Governor Norrington of Yew. Governor Norrington began by bringing the actions of a rogue monk to the attention of the Council. The monk Xandor has both committed murder and attempted to bomb buildings in Yew while assisting Lady Minax. He also brought up an interest amongst the citizens to have a tavern built within the city in the future.

Next to be given a chance to speak was Governor Khaleesi of Vesper. Her first item was regarding Doctor Hawk, whom Vesper had contracted to be their physician, as well as help all of Britannia. The Doctor received much praise for the acts of compassion he has already demonstrated. Second, Khaleesi brought up the request of the Emerald Trading Company for protection within the walls of Vesper, as well as the offer of their assistance in combating the forces of Minax. Finally, she mentioned how the city of Vesper had requested a Virtue, and asked if she may present his Majesty with a petition, which he accepted.

Then there was the Lady Lioness Heart, who was once again filling in for Governor Sage of Skara Brae. Skara Brae had nothing to present the King at this meeting. Though saddened by the cancellation of the festivities in Skara Brae, the reasoning behind the decision was understood.

Governor Tazar of Moonglow had three items for the King. The first, regarding the plan to update the teleport hub in the center of the city. While the plans were going well, the Landscape Architect, Thomas Evergreen, has disappeared. Governor Tazar announced should he not reappear, Moonglow will host a quest to find him on Saturday the 2nd at 7pm eastern. Second was the announcement that there have been no further incidents of Grave Robbing to report. The third item was some concerns of the people that have been heard regarding the recent declaration of the King annexing all player townships. Many of the towns lie outside the Realm of Britannia in the lands of Malas, Tokuno, or Ter Mur and are subject to other monarchs, and even those within Britannia are concerned about Taxation without Representation. While understanding the concerns of the citizens, the King stated that he must ask for patience in this matter for there is much more information that needs to be released. Once all it known, then there can be debate if needed.

Next was Governor Lew, who appeared vaguely ill. He announced that with the help of Skara Brae, the city of Trinsic would be hosting a night of fun after the meeting, and gave details. Secondly, the Governor mentioned that Trinsic would once again be holding a fishing competition during the month of November with the same rule set as the previous one. Having been asked about having the winning fish mounted in the castle, the King wished to comment, saying that if the winning fish was brought to him already mounted, he would have it hung in the castle. Governor Lew’s final note was the forming of a guard, known as the Trinsic Wardens.

Governor Alexander expressed on behalf of his citizens their thanks for the Medical Supply Units that have been set up around the city. He also wished to announce that the city of Jhelom would be hosting a tournament and asked that every Governor and town participate. He would update all with details soon.

Governor Andrasta of New Magincia first wished to thank King Blackthorn for the new office. Second, she stated that though the city was holding its own during the invasions, they are hurting the trade for the market stalls. The city would do their best to hold out, but they cannot offer much assistance. Governor Andrasta’s third item was also regarding the annexing of the player townships, to which she received the same answer as Governor Tazar.

Governor Zhuge of Minoc simply stated that the city was too busy fighting the invasion forces to worry about small issues at the moment, and had nothing to present.

King Blackthorn then turned his attention to Doctor Hawk, affirming that he had heard much of the Doctor and his efforts from not only the Governors, but the Lady Amandine as well. He then asked Doctor Hawk to take a knee, and made the following announcement:

“I King Blackthorn of Britannia, hereby bestow an honorary Knighthood to Lord Hawk. And name him Sir Hawk, High Physician of Britannia. Your efforts, past and future are not unnoticed among your peers… or your King.”

Amongst the applause and cheers for the Doctor, the King could be heard saying that Governor Solus had said enough that evening, and the meeting stood in recess.

Long Live Britannia!

Long Live The King!

(Player Event) Moonglow Gardens

October 31, 2013 By: Flair Category: Atlantic News

It was a time of trouble throughout the Kingdom. Pirates near Jhelom, Plague in Trinsic, and a Governor in Britain worse than any plague… and random raiders invading every town. And yet, even through it all, Moonglow quietly prospers.

Governor Tazar surveyed the town with an eye towards enhancing the visual appeal. The Gardens by the bank were well tended, but the plaza in the center of town was a monotonous plain green. Perhaps a plan to convert the teleport plaza into a colorful garden? The more the potential was reviewed the better it sounded. Yes – a bright colorful center to the city ready to greet visitors to the Lycaeum and the Telescope and the Zoo.

A call went out for the best Gardeners and Landscape Architects to assist with the plan. After many interviews, Thomas Evergreen, an Assistant of the Mage Relvinian, was hired.

Governor Tazar quickly described his vision to Sir Evergreen of an Amazing Garden filled with tall plants and bright colors to relieve the monotony and then presented Thomas with space to do a scale test of his plans.

Days turned into weeks and weeks onto months and yet Thomas never returned to present his plan. With growing concern, Governor Tazar finally began a search for Sir Evergreen.

The test area for the garden was locked up tight…

The various gardeners and growers reported that Thomas had not been seen for weeks.

The Evergreen house stood unused with no evidence of its owner…

Finally, a small Diary was found in the Evergreen house and brought to Governor Tazar. The last few entries quickly added to the concern.

“The Garden progresses well, though why Governor Tazar wants “A Maze Garden” in the center of town is beyond me. The spells of sowing and growing that I learned from my Master Relvinian have come in handy to design another maze. While not on the scale of my Master’s southwest of Britain, I have learned of a way to compress the maze into various levels. This will certainly confound the travelers trying to make use of the Teleporters in the center of town.”

“The maze looks almost completely grown from the outside, but I am not sure if the spells have worked properly to lay out the proper passages within. I simply can not tell from the outside”

“Governor Tazar will be quite upset if the test is not complete soon. I must present him with a finished plan that he can see soon.”

“I just can’t tell if the design is right or not. There is no other way but for me to venture inside and check every passage within. I must hurry to report back to Governor Tazar. Checking every passage could take some time so must be sure to carry food and supplies for a few days”.

Returning to the test site, Tazar forced open the entry to see a daunting wall of foliage and twisting passages leading seemingly in all directions. Locating Thomas Evergreen within would take a team effort.

Maze.jpg

Returning to the Moonglow Governors Office, Governor Tazar drew up the following proclamation.

“Moonglow hereby requests the assistance of all able bodied adventurers to aid in the recovery of Sir Thomas Evergreen who appears to be lost in a maze. Please meet at the Lycaeum at 7pm eastern on Saturday, November 2nd, 2013. Prizes will be awarded to the first three to reach Thomas Evergreen.

1st place: A Soulstone Token
2nd place: A Vollem in a Crystal and a Race Change Token
3rd place: A Soulstone Fragment Token and a Race Change Token”

The Plight of Trinsic – The Good and the Bad

October 29, 2013 By: Flair Category: Atlantic News

Lord Galathan received an urgent word from Governor Lord Lew that there was a situation with a paladin in Trinsic. He was apparently sick and refusing treatment, and becoming biligerant. Since Lord Lew sounded urgent, he quickly saddled his horse and rode hastily into the area to assess the situation. When he arrived he found the paladin in a very sickly state, refusing treatment from the resident Dr. Hawk.
Zombie 3
All of a sudden he jumped out of a window and proceeded to run about town. As he ran he grabbed any townsfolk he could, biting and scratching them.
zombie 6
At first the guards wanted to help him but as the chase ensued it was clear he needed to be stopped at all costs. When he was finally cornered he tried biting and scratching at the guards and then suddenly dropped dead to the ground.
zombie 8
As the guards tried to get a grip on what just happened the body suddenly rose back up in a vile form and started attacking everyone.

It was a tough fight. He struggled trying to bring down this super human being they were calling a “zombie”. He watched as his friends and fellow guards struggled on with the fight but they all knew they had to stop this. After defeating the foe, they set out on a patrol of Trinsic. It was a horror, they ran into these “zombies” everywhere…
rottingzombie
lichzombie
After they defeated several it seemed to quiet down. Trinsic was host to some festivities this evening and the governor was concerned about everyone’s safety. Then there were the Minax warriors too that were also attacking towns. Galathan and the Wardens of Trinsic remained on patrol, up until the Conseil du Roi. Galathan hurried to make the muster to escort the governor because by now it had gotten out about a possible “plague” in Trinsic. While it was heated at the meeting and accusations flew all around, Governor Lew assured everyone the Wardens had everything under control and the festivies would proceed. King Blackthorn promised assistance for Trinsic, and it looked like everything was calming down, but right before the festivies of the evening were to start the Minax forces invaded…

It almost seemed hopeless but the festivies went on even throughout the fight…

While it certainly seemed like all was well, it soon fell apart fast. Right after the evening finished up and the guards were making there last patrols more of the “zombies” started appearing all over town. Panic soon set in, but there was a bright spot of hope when the relief station and supplies from King Blackthorn was set up by the Trinsic docks…

Seems some are so fearful of this “plague” that they have resorted to murdering people for simply being from Trinsic. While Trinsic appears to be suffering from some unknown events it seems that fear has gotten the better of Britiannian’s citizens and has caused this problem to get out of hand. As for now I would caution all travelers to refrain from entering Trinsic until such time as Dr. Hawk has cleared it for visitors.
