(Player Event) Shard Public Auction

April 21, 2014 By: Flair Category: Siege Perilous News

On Saturday, 10th May at 3pm Eastern, the representatives of the King’s Council will be holding a shard public auction in order to give the people of Siege an opportunity to trade goods, promote shard interaction, and raise money for town treasuries. If successful, the event could become a biannual event at the start of each governorship term of office (or conceivably even twice per term). This thread is intended to give advance notice of the auction; further details and the official list of lots for sale will come in May.

Venue & auctioneer

The auction will take place at Gilfane Arena and I will be acting as auctioneer. Kattasrophe is working as chief assistant and will be organizing complementary activities.

Commission & donations

The auctioneer will levy a charge of 5% on all lots sold and the money so raised [the “Town Fund”] will be split equally between the seven towns involved (Jhelom, Minoc, Moonglow, New Magincia, Skara Brae, Trinsic, Vesper). If any member of the public wishes to contribute further, then they are welcome to make additional contributions in four possible ways:

a) By donating an item(s) entirely to the Town Fund, in which case 100% of the auction sale price will go into the fund.

b) By donating an item(s) to ONE particular town, in which case the remaining 95% of the sale price will go directly to the specified town.

c) By donating an item to York’s new player vendor subsidy program, in which case the remaining 95% of the sale price will go directly to this cause.

d) By donating a lump some of cash to the Town Fund or to specified town(s). This is no different than giving cash directly to the town heralds, except that your donation will appear in the official accounts and will therefore be recorded for posterity.

Reserve Price

Items submitted for sale may be assigned a minimum price that the seller is willing to accept, although items may be rejected if the auctioneer views the reserve as unreasonably high and unlikely to lead to a sale.

Advanced bids

To aid those unable to attend the live event or find a suitable proxy, the auctioneer will take private bids in advance of the sale. Further details on this service will be posted nearer the event.

Submitting items for sale

To raise interest and awareness for the auction, the public is encouraged to announce items for sale as soon as possible. However, as the auction house will not be taking receipt of goods until May, anything so announced/listed is not final and could be withdrawn by the seller.

To submit your items, PM me here. Be sure to include any reserve prices you wish to assign the goods, although these could be changed later. All items are presumed to be for the benefit of the seller unless otherwise stated. If you wish to donate the entire proceeds of an item to one of the causes (Town Fund, individual town, subsidy program), please clearly state this. Items donated to a cause will state the name of the donor unless anonymity is specifically requested. General items for sale will not list the name of the seller unless it is necessary to do so.

If you are intending to sell low-priced items, please try and group them together where possible. What constitutes a “low price” is unclear at this point. Once official submissions are taken in May, we should have a better idea of the amount of items that are likely to be for sale and what to set the minimum requirements at.

Official accounts

A record of sale prices and all monies raised will be published after the auction. The auctioneer will deposit the money raised for each town directly with the heralds in the presence of Kattasrophe and/or another creditable witness.

Confidentiality & liability

All reserve prices, advance bids and other privileged information from sellers will be kept in confidence by the auctioneer except in the event of a new auctioneer having to be appointed due to illness or force majeure.

Final responsibility for items being sold, monies raised thereon, and the conduct of the auction, lies with the auctioneer and not the members of the King’s Council.

If anyone can suggest an amusing name for this type of auction, “Townaid” or something, please do so.

An Amazing Garden – The Rescue of Thomas Evergreen

November 03, 2013 By: Flair Category: Atlantic News

An “Amazing Garden” is what was requested of Thomas Evergreen for Moonglow, and that’s what it was. After meeting Tazar in Moonglow adventurers where gated to the beginning of the garden with the hopes of locating Sir Evergreen who had become lost in his creation.

Innocent enough looking garden…. till you realize Sir Evergreen is lost somewhere in here… To give you a perspective of this monstrosity a few pictures…

There’s your prize…. simple enough right. Now take a look at this top floor to get the whole perspective…
screenshot_107
This monstrosity took Tazar and Flair 30 hours to build each, and was 12 floors total. It took 3310 hedges, 1564 gozas, 24 house teleport tile sets, and 1 ladder. What else to say about this other then devious, diabolical, twisted, and so on…. I will let the screenshots speak for themselves….

Twelve floors of twisting and winding paths with each floor containing 3 tiles that kicked you out and made you start over, 5 pitfalls dropping you down floors, and then there was falling off the edge of the house, and all only to find the one teleport tile to advance you to the next floor. There where only 2 people to actually complete the maze, Soar(just over 3 hours) and Sinful Obsession(3 hours and 20mins).

Dalia and Alton Darkpick were given honorable third place for getting the next farthest along. We would also like to pass on a special thanks to Sinful Candy, Lady Lavender, and Queen Mum for helping with the hedges. Without their help the last floors wouldn’t have been completed. The houses are currently still public and can be reached through the teleport hub located just outside the South Gate of Luna across from the Fairgrounds(follow the red carpet). Find the one labeled Falling Waters Fortress and double click the statue. That takes you to the town banner and the first maze house is the 4th one south. I challenge all to go and give it a try and see if you can beat the 3 hour mark.

(Player Event) Moonglow Gardens

October 31, 2013 By: Flair Category: Atlantic News

It was a time of trouble throughout the Kingdom. Pirates near Jhelom, Plague in Trinsic, and a Governor in Britain worse than any plague… and random raiders invading every town. And yet, even through it all, Moonglow quietly prospers.

Governor Tazar surveyed the town with an eye towards enhancing the visual appeal. The Gardens by the bank were well tended, but the plaza in the center of town was a monotonous plain green. Perhaps a plan to convert the teleport plaza into a colorful garden? The more the potential was reviewed the better it sounded. Yes – a bright colorful center to the city ready to greet visitors to the Lycaeum and the Telescope and the Zoo.

A call went out for the best Gardeners and Landscape Architects to assist with the plan. After many interviews, Thomas Evergreen, an Assistant of the Mage Relvinian, was hired.

Governor Tazar quickly described his vision to Sir Evergreen of an Amazing Garden filled with tall plants and bright colors to relieve the monotony and then presented Thomas with space to do a scale test of his plans.

Days turned into weeks and weeks onto months and yet Thomas never returned to present his plan. With growing concern, Governor Tazar finally began a search for Sir Evergreen.

The test area for the garden was locked up tight…

The various gardeners and growers reported that Thomas had not been seen for weeks.

The Evergreen house stood unused with no evidence of its owner…

Finally, a small Diary was found in the Evergreen house and brought to Governor Tazar. The last few entries quickly added to the concern.

“The Garden progresses well, though why Governor Tazar wants “A Maze Garden” in the center of town is beyond me. The spells of sowing and growing that I learned from my Master Relvinian have come in handy to design another maze. While not on the scale of my Master’s southwest of Britain, I have learned of a way to compress the maze into various levels. This will certainly confound the travelers trying to make use of the Teleporters in the center of town.”

“The maze looks almost completely grown from the outside, but I am not sure if the spells have worked properly to lay out the proper passages within. I simply can not tell from the outside”

“Governor Tazar will be quite upset if the test is not complete soon. I must present him with a finished plan that he can see soon.”

“I just can’t tell if the design is right or not. There is no other way but for me to venture inside and check every passage within. I must hurry to report back to Governor Tazar. Checking every passage could take some time so must be sure to carry food and supplies for a few days”.

Returning to the test site, Tazar forced open the entry to see a daunting wall of foliage and twisting passages leading seemingly in all directions. Locating Thomas Evergreen within would take a team effort.

Returning to the Moonglow Governors Office, Governor Tazar drew up the following proclamation.

“Moonglow hereby requests the assistance of all able bodied adventurers to aid in the recovery of Sir Thomas Evergreen who appears to be lost in a maze. Please meet at the Lycaeum at 7pm eastern on Saturday, November 2nd, 2013. Prizes will be awarded to the first three to reach Thomas Evergreen.

1st place: A Soulstone Token
2nd place: A Vollem in a Crystal and a Race Change Token
3rd place: A Soulstone Fragment Token and a Race Change Token”
