Searching For Clues
EM Crysania

You can view the original thread here.

Jebediah breathed a sigh of relief after being given word that Murdock had been killed. The weight of guilt upon his shoulders eased at the words. At least that evil had been taken out of the realm.

He cradled the pieces of stone that had been found on Murdock at his death. Turning them from one side to the other, he could see the faint etching on the stone. He had no idea what the words were, or what they meant. But judging by the way the carvings lay it seemed they gave hint to something very important. Jebediah knew just who he would take these too..perhaps they could give them a hint into what they meant.

Carefully he placed the fragments in a leather pouch and headed out the door in search of One of the mages of Moonglow…

Jebediah’s Inferno: Or That Night We Killed Murdock …Again.

Jebediah’s Inferno: Or That Time We Killed Murdock …Again
WarderDragon

Last night, Britannians charged into the depths beneath Castle Blackthorne, not to check his wife’s plumbing, but to confront an old foe: Murdock. A man we seem to just keep killing. Again. And again. And again.

But let’s rewind a moment. This all began when Grindylow, the neon-haired she-tart of Britain, summoned us to confront a “noble from the land of Moonglow.” Apparently, she deduced, the people of Moonglow must be planning to kill us all, because we all know the first thing you do when invading a rival city-state is to go there – alone – and announce your threat to them. But, humoring her, we decided to get to the bottom of this. Because we have hearts, and we care.

Sure enough, an invasion was planned. Arriving on Eiffel Isle before the others, I and my trusty sidekick Sholto withered, slapped and dropkicked our way into the center of the island, clearing the way for the rest …because we’re just that awesome. Clue’s in the encampment suggested we seek out a Jebediah in Buccaneer’s Den.

The Pirate’s Isle, as it turns out, is Hell-adjacent, or at the very least home to a nasty dimensional rift. There, Jebediah, wreathed in flame and radiating all sort’s of bad guy spookiness, lamented his task and revealed his wish to retire from a life of jaywalking and mass-murder. Right, let’s help that. To do that, he would need our cooperation, but not before sending us through a three-dungeon obstacle course, because clearly Satan’s third cousin thought it amusing.

Seriously, I was playing Eye of the Tiger through the whole thing.

Having proved ourselves, Lucif…I mean Jebediah announced he would lead us on a quest to kill those who threaten Britain, because clearly we should be trusting the dude who almost just invaded us. He opened the gate, showing us all his mad skills, before leading us to a very familiar looking supervillain’s lair, where a quartet of very menacing looking faces announced we would be facing “our old nemesis.”

“You don’t mean Murdock, because that would be just-”

“…douchy.” The scenery around me changed, whisking me to the bowels beneath Britain, and to the center of Murdock’s encampment of evil. C’mon, what kind’ve supervillain uses his own name as the password!? Oh look, Controllers!

Some three-hundred flamestrikes later, Murdock lay dead. Again. Victory was ours. Jebediah got his wish, Britain would rise to see a new day, and all the usual suspects got their shinies. Awesome. But at the end of the day, I can’t help but be left with this one nagging question. We just helped a mass-murderer, and would-be invader, kill a Priest of the Light, in the name of good.

Why do I get the sense we killed the wrong guy?

Oh well. Now for a little Def Leppard…

[EM Fiction] “A Past Foe.”

A Past Foe
EM Crysania

View the original post here.

The Man stood for sometime in silence as he was told that Jebediah had defied him.

He had waited so long for this moment, of being free of the crystal that had bound him and his soul. The others were long dead that had joined him at his capture. Their souls withered away as he had fed off their energy to keep his on soul alive. He had not understood at the time of the crystals shattering what had happened. He knew that he was once again whole, weakened in strength, but with a mind sharp and clear. He had drawn energy and life force from creatures that roamed too near where the crystal that had contained him had been placed. Day by day he grew stronger, day by day he practiced the dark evil.He finally was able to venture out into the realm in the darkness of night. Poor unwary souls that traveled the roads late at night fell victim to him. His energy and power grew strong, and once again he planned on making the realm his.

He had heard of the corruption of Honor Moongate and of the Call to Arms against Exodus. He knew it was at the precise time of the corruption of the Moongate that the crystal binding his soul had shattered.

The Man had found a fragment of a ancient stone tablet laying nearby where the shattered crystal lay. Taking it in hand, he studied the strange markings.

“A powerful spell!” he thought to himself,”I must find the rest of this tablet!”

He searched the cavern over, but found no more pieces. He remembered then, that in days gone past, when a powerful spell was written out, pieces of it were placed in different locations. If it fell into the hands of evil, chaos and catastrophe could only be the outcome, which was exactly what the Man wanted.

His only problem was now there was someone else searching for the spell, one who would use it for the good of the land. He could not let this person find the rest of the spell, he had to have it for his own!

If Jebediah wouldn’t help, he would have to do this deed on his own. This person would be hunted down and assassinated. He gathered the fragments together and silently moved into the night….

Interview With A Zombie And A Tour Of It’s Mausoleum

August 14, 2012 By: Amber Witch Category: Baja News

This interview kicks off, what I hope to be, a series of interviews of Baja’s wonderful and creative residents and a tour of their home. If there is someone that you would like to see interviewed please send me a PM.

A Zombie is one of those people who make this game just so much more interesting and tries to make this game fun for others. Below is a brief interview with Zombie. I hope you enjoy it.

What was the inspiration for the zombie Mausoleum?

A place to keep brain museums.  Plus zombies need a place to call home too, ya know?  (OOC I just like doing things umm differently and  I wasn’t aware of another “mausoleum” in existence)   Also being placed in Felucca gives non-allied players a chance to “tap the zombie” so to speak .  That’s right, I’m speaking to you “real tough guy!”

You’re charging a one brain fee to enter. Do you have visitors that actually donate a brain? I find that rather odd.

Funny thing is, there are about 20 brains in the box.  And odd is my middle name. Wesley Odd Zombie the 3rd.

Why do you have exhibits on the Town Guards and the Girl Scouts?

To prove to all the other zombie wannabes out there that I am one bad mutha…..   I chose the Town Guards because they are my sworn mortal enemies, and I wanted to make an example of what happens to those who dare try to thwart the zombie.  And I chose the EVIL girl scouts out of begrudging respect.  Compared to them I am like the bud light of evil.  There is also the added bonus of managing to creep out our last two EM’s.   That in itself is worth the effort.

How did you become a zombie? Do you have a girlfriend?

1st part long story.

2nd part  No… 2 words … Dry Rot.  I did have a special she zombie friend a while back.  But she claimed I only loved her for her brain so it didn’t last.

OK so how I became a zombie …  I was alive once, a simple farm hand to a family of nobles.  I fell in love with the beautiful daughter, Buttercup, but I had no means to support her.  So off I went to make my fortune.

I fell in as an errand boy to a somewhat incompetent necromancer.  This was a huge mistake, becoming an apprentice to someone who calls himself “The Slug” simply can’t end well.  After an unfortunate accident involving demon blood, nightshade, blackrock, mongbat testicles and a cauldron, I woke up feeling kinda funny.  As time passed I realized that my flesh was decaying, I stank horribly and I had developed a real taste for living brains. I had also been freed from the mortal views of “virtue” and good and evil.

To make a long story even longer, I returned to my family of nobles, and of course, ate their brains.  I offered Buttercup the chance for immortality, but she declined, citing the fact that immortality was far too malodorous for her liking.  I left her alone, since her brain would not have made even a decent midnight snack.  I then built myself a mausoleum and starting slinking around Britain, thinking that there might might be a few decent sized brains left there .

Has the way you play the game changed since you first started playing UO? If so, why and how?

Kinda OOC but I’ll answer anyway.

I’ve been around since ’97 (beta actually) off and on. The game has evolved, obviously, and so have I.  I have gone from being a wide eyed newbie myself (back when you you couldn’t set skills, there were no guilds and spellbooks weren’t even blessed) to pking newbies in chicken form, ( I had a mage named “a chicken” for a while)   Then I got involved in an anti-pk guild (simply called the Knights, then Elder Knights, then Great Horny Toads)   The Great Horny Toads still exist today, but only 4 or 5 real people left and I have no desire to re-grow the guild.   I attempted (key word being attempted) PvP up until about the time of Samurai Empire, when things got too complicated for me.  Since then a few large guilds, UG.K, AFK/UTB 2 stints in C@S and M!S for a short time.  (I am in the Town Guards now) But the drama and rules of being in a large alliance got to me so since then I have been more or less on my own with a small group of trusted friends.

Who do you hang with ingame now? Or should I be asking.. who hangs out with zombies ingame?

Hey that’s not nice !!   *hmph*    I even took a bath about 100 or so years ago!

Needless to say I try to hang out with whoever has a brain, but for some reason, those with brains tend to avoid me or just run away.  *sighs*

Who are some of the people that inspire you ingame?

Anyone who does their own thing and goes their own way really.  Corporal Brackus is a major role model, I have nothing but respect for the way he plays this game.  Handalf, of course.  Mama Faith, Jocasta, Al, you Amber, Sally the Pie Girl, and many more that I have either forgotten or just too lazy to list.

What do you enjoy doing ingame?

Just relaxing and having fun.  EM events are always fun, and doing pretty much anything with my alliance mates, or other like minded people .  I’m not a PvPer, RPer or anything else.  I’m simply me, that’s all.

Anything else I should be asking that I’ve forgotten or that you would like to say?

*moans *    *spits*   *squish*    *flaps*   OK I think I about covered  it.

[EM Event] Atonement for the Past

August 14, 2012 By: WarderDragon Category: Baja News

Atonement for the Past
EM Crysania

The stranger called Jebediah sat holding the note in his age gnarled hands. His face was lined with furrows of age and a work worn life.

He had not wanted to get involved, no more than he could carry out what was asked of him. It had been years since he had made the rash decision to join the Shadow Lords as an assassin, and even though that time had passed, he was still sought out as one to seek when deeds were to be done.

Shaking his head, Jebediah stood up with a groan. His old bones creaked and crackled with the effort. There was not anyway he could see himself doing what was asked, nor did he have it in his spirit to do so.

He regretted his actions from the past. Perhaps it was because of his age, he sought to make atonement for his past.

Throwing the note into the fire, he made made up his mind. The note had asked for him to meet others that would agree to join him in a assassination attempt. He would meet with them, but not ask them to send anyone to their death. Instead, he would ask them to help protect the one that the Evil one wanted dead. In this perhaps when his time came to leave this realm, he would lie in peace.

Gathering up his walking stave, he went out the door, headed to Buc’s Den. A small smile creased his aged face, and his eyes shown with a new brightness.

(OCC- You can meet with Jebediah tomorrow 8/14/12 at Buc’s Den. He will ask if you are willing to help him in his deed. You must find out where Jebediah is hiding. You will be asked to prove your worth)

A City to Blame
EM Crysania

Grindylow listened to the Noble from Moonglow yelling in the streets of Britain. Angry words came from the Noble’s lips, blaming the city of Britain for all that was happening in the lands. The word “revenge” caught her ear and caused her to gasp.

Perhaps she should make a little trip to ‘glow and see what she could find out.

Event: A City to Blame

Date: 8/11/12

Time: 7pm PST

Meet: Grindylow at West Britain Bank to find out what she has learned.

Xelious Norwood Discovers New Lands!

August 03, 2012 By: Amber Witch Category: Baja News

Early this morning Mr. Norwood jumped through the window of my Magincia house to announce his discovery of a new land mass in the Tokuno Island chain. Lysle, Fig, Xelious and I quickly saddled up our ponies and off we trotted. After many hours of song, drink and tossing explosives as we rode along we finally found the spot where we could gate from and this is what Xelious wanted us to see. I went back afterwards and took a video which is below.

[EM / RP News] Dark Side of the Moon: Lady Grace Rescued from Defilers

Dark Side of the Moon: Lady Grace Rescued from Defilers
WarderDragon

We gathered at Dupre’s camp.

The aging drunk doesn’t seem to have grown any more popular with the cities, in spite of his rescue of Britannia from Exodus, relegated to roasting weenies around a camp fire and singing kumbaya. However, not daunted by a little bad press, Dupre called upon volunteers and mercenaries from all corners of Trammel, appealing to the one thing we all hold in common: our shared xenophobia and fear of outsiders, especially the Umbral.

They listen to The Cure.

We raided the Necropolis, leaving it’s defenders unprepared and in awe of our mighty awesomeness. With no sign of the kidnapped woman to be found, we began to search the manors and farms of those outside of town, for surely, the rich and powerful would never stoop to such nefarious ends. And lo and behold, we were right! In a field north of town, we discovered a band of thugs and cutpurses. (And no womenfolk.)

“Search for the High Executioner,” Dupre belched. We asked the old knight how we would recognize him. “His name! Search for his name!” (Apparently the Lord Paladin believes names float over peoples heads. What nonsense!)

He would have done better to tell us to search for the Blue Man Group, because he was the one leading this shindig.

I’m seeing a resemblance.

Like any good Frenchman…er, Umbran, the High Executioner rolled over and died, but not before handing out a set of delightfully pink ropes to our strongest. Apparently this Umbral has more fairy in him than Lindae on an acid trip.

When all was said and done, balance was restored to fair Britannia. Dupre got the girl, those dreadful necromancers were put in their place, and somewhere out there, a rares collector is asphyxiating himself with a frilly pink rope.
