Last Minute Holiday Gifts and Decor

~ LAST MINUTE HOLIDAY GIFTS AND DECOR ~

This morning I was going through my letterbox and to my surprise there was a marked rune to a holiday decorated plot. I was in the Christmas mood as I had stopped by the Hall in Brit to see how our wonderful EMs decorated for the season and they pulled out all the stops. The rooftop was covered with creatures and a sleigh but no Santa. Once again a Flying Piglet was in Santa’s place. Piglets show up this time of year however they avoid me. Only twenty could be found last year and not a one came my way. This year rumor has it they are blue and once again no Flying Piglet for Lady Lava. Just a few days ago when I was on Santa’s lap at the MOA Ice Castle yearly event I told the jolly old man a Flying Piglet was top on my list. I have been a good girl this year but I guess not good enough.

It seems every year one player or more sets up a free honor system of gift giving / taking. The marked rune in my letterbox this morning took me to such a place. Cords are 42o 6’N, 41o 12’E  The plot is in full holiday mode with gift boxes under the tree accessed to everyone. If you are in need you are welcome to take and if you are able to give just drop items in the boxes. This set up often helps new/young players and it has the true meaning of Christmas written all over it.

DJ SCORP ROCKS HOLIDAY EVENT AT MOA

The yearly holiday event at MOA was well attended last night as always. So well attended it was standing room only towards the end. DJ Scorp was the main figure head of this event and he did an amazing job. I arrived  an hour early and people were so excited about this holiday get together patrons were already in the auction house. Several of the MOA staff were on hand also finishing up last minute details and chatting with the early birds.  On the topic of MOA staff the talented Melian, Logan, Princess Melody, Lady Emerald Ice and of course Pratt could be seen about working and socializing.

DJ Scorp started the night by addressing the crowd thanking the entire Great Lakes community, MOA staff, several of the guilds and a special shout out to Xuri, Hobo, Hearts and Lady Lava.

Holiday greetings from the packed house at MOA

Before the event began Melian offered libations to the crowd in the form of eggnog and Celes was first in line.

Rumor has it the eggnog was spiked

It was a night full of high end auction items, holiday trivia, gold give aways and the 12 days of Christmas. It was also a night of fashion. Below are a few screenshots of the staff and patrons in their holiday outfits.

MOA Staffers

Some very famous people stopped into the auction house last night. That smelly dwarf Impy popped in for a while to heckle the crowd and leave his scent behind. Royality attended also, RedDevil the man who held the first ever UO auction made an appearance also. So nice to see old faces.

As we all know the big man in red is what the night truly is all about. After the event at the auction house patrons were gated to Ice Castle where Santa was ready and waiting to give all the good and naughty boys and girls a gift. I arrived early as did a few others and Santa had me sit on his lap and what a gift I got ! Thank you MOA for another great year, great holiday event and time. It is the time that all the MOA members give that make it work.   A HAPPY HEALTHY HOLIDAY TO YOU ALL!

One can tell Christmas is right around the corner, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa too.

Santa is making his yearly appearance at MOA this thursday December 15th.  Majestic Oaks Auction will host a brief
auction with lots of trivia and the 12 days of Christmas give away tradition.
Santa gifts of course afterwards at the castle along with a bit of a feast. MOA really knows how to celebrate the season, give back and end the year with a bang.

The holiday fun does not stop there. Saturday Walrus will invade Vesper and below is your invite. See you there.

It will not be long and Santa will arriving on Great Lakes, just a few weeks away. I stopped by the MOA Ice Castle this evening and to my joy it is already decorated for the season. In the past this is one of Santa’s favorite stops. All the good boys and girls, even the naughty ones, get gifts.  I have not heard from Pratt which day the fat jolly one will arrive but when I do I will let you know.

I see a chair set up. Maybe it is for Santa.

Even the rooftop of MOA Ice Castle is decorated

MOA holds auctions every thursday night at their auction house.  Gates are provided before and during these auctions at major banks with Luna Mint being a sure bet. I stopped by the auction house after my trip to Ice Castle and sure enough the auction house was decorated for the holiday also. I have classes on thursday evenings so it has been a long time since I have attended one of my favorite player run events. Hopefully I can put on a holiday party frock and attend one in the next few weeks. I have to see Santa for sure !

Eat The Turkey Before The Turkey Eats You !

It is Turkey time again and there is much lore and history on this famous bird. Later this week many folks in America will be feasting on this foul as Thanksgiving Day is right around the corner. The very first Thanksgiving took place in 1621 but it took two hundreds years before Thanksgiving Day was officially proclaimed.  Turkey is the main course in most homes for this holiday. Through history people have had strong feelings about this bird. Ben Franklin was so charmed by this creature he thought and promoted this bird to be the American national bird. He was unsuccessful in his attemps.

In the past week turkeys have re-appeared in the forests of Great Lakes. Turkeys will peck at just about anything, including each other. Beware as they will do more than just peck you. As in past years a popular group sport is to lure a turkey or two to the Brit Bank and have a slaughter. The birds are not the only things to die as you can see in a few screenshots below from last nights banking adventure.

A HAPPY THANKSGIVING FROM ALL OF US IN THE NEWS DEPARTMENT

p.s. Only male adult turkeys make the gobble gobble sound. Female turkeys are more ladylike with a soft clucking sound.

Awards Hall and Museum Re-opens With Latest Displays

AWARDS HALL AND MUSEUM RE-OPENS WITH LATEST DISPLAYS

Those Great Lakes EMs have been busy and I am not talking just about running and creating events. We are lucky and honored to have such an amazing Awards Hall on Great Lakes and it is all do to those wonderful EMs. Elizabella sent me a pigeon the other day informing me the Awards Hall and Museum has  new displays on view so I had to check them out.

There are hissing cats, marble sphynx and items galore. Past and new Great Lakes history on every floor.  As a girl that has spent alot of time at sea the past five months I had special interest in all things fishey.  The new first floor display houses a Holy Mackeral at 196 stones caught by Tara Gabriel and a Zombie Fish at 152 stones caught by Dangling WORM not to mention a fire fish at 166 stones caught by Tunna of FCB. As I headed to the second floor I noticed that the Harvest King this year is man about town Malag-aste.

The second floor had more fish on display to my delight caught by Someone’s Bored and Von Hogan & Tunna both of FCB. Be sure when you visit this jewel of Great Lakes to open up all the boxes and containers on display. They all house interesting things. It is impossible to highlight everything in the Museum in one article so please be sure to check it out. Most people know this location but by chance you do not you can access this location by the gate outside the Counselor’s Hall in the fine city of Brit.
