Wahnita and Smoke Return to Great Lakes with Old School Deco

It is always warming to the heart to see players return to UO and to Great Lakes. A few months ago Smoke and Wahnita returned to the game after being away for many years. I have been watching with delight as they learn the new ways of our world. Reflecting on the old days with them has been rather nice also.

One of the nice things that has evolved over the years is the designing and styling of a plot. I still reflect on the old school ways when a home decorater had to be creative in a much more challenging way as there was so little to work with. To my surprise Wahnita has combined many of the great old ways of creating items with the new.  Below are a few vignettes by Wahnita .

2012 Rares Fest

The 2012 Rares Fest is in full swing and there is a lot so see and buy ! This is not an event that happens every week so be sure to check it out even if your budget does not allow big spending at this time. Many people are gathered around the vendors , chatting, talking about UO and Great Lakes history not to mention some shopping. A hub gate is now provided next to the Luna moongate that will take you to the action and the goods.

EM Elizabella would like all to gather at Empathy Abbey (Trammel) for the annual Festival of the Grape Harvest. One of the monks has been working on new varieties of wine and will be holding a wine tasting.

The Obituary Column Returns

The Obituary Column returns after an absence.

The boards were down for a while and as you can see they have been revamped wonderfully.

With that and the purchase of a new computer the February Obituary Column got lost in the vapors.

Easter Is Around The Corner And It Is Time To Think Spring and Eggs

It is that time of year when the cherry blossom trees and magnolias start to bloom and Easter is in the air. That means it is time to decorate for Spring/ Easter. Easter is just two weeks away and we in the realm have many an item to display to herald in the season.

The screenshot above shows old Lady Lava in her Luna Retirement Home showing off some of her Easter booty in hopes to inspire you new and experienced designers. Shown above are examples of a Dragon Easter Egg, Mature Battle Chicken Lizard Eggs which come in many colors and shades, Great Lakes 2009 Easter Eggs, Happy Easter 2010 Pastel Carrots, Easter Basket Grass, Princess Mirendrel’s Red Egg and Ginger Party eggs and Brightly Colored Eggs which come grouped in threes.

On the subject of Brightly Colored Eggs the High Council is hosting a Vorpal Bunny Bash at the Fairgrounds in Skara Brae Saturday April 7th at 2PM CST. For those that may not know the Brightly Colored Eggs come from those fast, fierce and cute Vorpals.

There are other items one can use for a Easter theme including Easter Baskets and Candy Coated Chocolate Rabbits. Let your imagination run wild and get those design tools busy!

Mesanna’s St. Patrick’s Day Game of Death

Mesanna’s St. Patrick’s Day Game of Death

March 17th the anniversary of Lilavieve and Carrick, a day to remember. This year we were all invited to celebrate this day with the mixed race lovely couple and to meet within the walls of the hall in Brit. Many were excited to join in on this day some arriving very early as not to miss a thing including Martyna Z’muir, Lady Witchlynn, Alusriel Harper, Princess Amara, Wubdagog, Sir Joe and JINX to name a few.

Pigeons from the one and only Mesanna started flying all over the land informing one and all to meet.

The hall was over flowing with humans and other races abound when we found out those old lovers Lilavieve and Carrick decided to skip their own anniversary celebration for a romantic get away. Really now, who could blame them. Many in the group were dressed in green for the day. Below are a few of them.

 With the anniversary celebration called off this gave Mesanna, with the help of our amazing EMs, the opportunity to play one of her demented and deadly games. A magical gate opened and everyone was transported to a very green place. So green it had rolling blarney stones!

It was a game of chance and a game of death for 1/3 of all that attended. Three at a time were selected to stand infront of three brightly colored doors.  Mesanna opened the doors when all three were in place. Each person then had to pick one of three tables that displayed a oddly colored vase. One click on the vase and you were rewarded with a gift or POOF you were dead. The first to die in this perverse game was…..Lord Krauser. He was the first but not the last.

After your death or reward you were transported to a distant land. Poor old Lady Lava saw death, one of the unlucky 1/3.  The reward was a lovely blinking lantern of most unusual color. To my shock and delight some kind person locked one of these lanterns on my doorstep this morning. They probably felt sorry for me or just hated seeing such an old lady die infront of such a large crowd. The shame of it all ! Thank you kindly to whomever left this for me. I appreciate it greatly.

This was a great event/game. I overheard many people voice pleasure that there was an event that did not include hunting/fighting. Needless to say many a crafter and bank sitter had a smile on thier face. Thank you Mesanna and EMs !

New Luna Casino and New Spring Look for Awards Hall

A new casino has opened up in Luna, the second casino opening this month. It appears many on Great Lakes have gambling spring fever.  This new casino named Malonjao can be found on the north side of Luna within the city walls. On casino nights gates are provided to the location but it is very easy to find. I was gated to the casino at the Brit Bank. Several people told me this casino has had a past life in a different location.

Cancer was one of the dealers the night I popped in and he was doing a great job, quick, funny and professional. It is always nice to see old and new player run events going strong.

A few weeks back EM Elizabella sent me a pigeon stating that the Awards Hall has a new look for spring. New events items and a little re arranging has taken place in the Hall so when you get the time check it out. With spring in the air the grounds outside the Awards Hall are like no other in color and design so be sure to take a stroll.

And hearts and clovers… A tiny fairy in a Speedy Wings courier uniform giggles and flies away. You read the invitation and remember meeting the mischievous pixies and leprechauns last year. What magic is afoot in the land this spring?

MOA is Very Green in March

MOA IS VERY GREEN IN MARCH

This past thursday I attended the oldest of player run events on Great Lakes, the MOA Auction.

It had been many weeks since I last attended this event and yet again the plot design has been redone. The interior was green for the season….St Patrick’s Day of course.  Not only is the place decked out in green and real gold they are hosting an ongoing St. Patricks Event.

The auction house was full of activity with many of the shards more familar faces such as Tiggermcat, Hannah, Princess Amara, Lord Xevei, Lady FiFi LaForge, Galen, Celes, Snippa, Ghost, Willa of Yew-Wood and the lovely Lady Silverbrook in the crowd.  Several Assisant Royal Spy Masters were in the house and many guilds were represented including GOF, -Y-, CREW, GTO, ENVY, DC*, TM*, G-V, H^I, B*L,  and FCB.

This thursday evening event as usual was full of trivia, gold give-aways and great items on the auction block including many forms of rubble, armour, weapons, high end footwear, virtue tiles, cloaks, power scrools, EM event items, a flaming bud and much much more. Gates are  provided before and during this event each week from major banks and always from the Luna bank. MOA really has started 2012 out on a grand note.

Magincia Casino Opens

Chaotic Soldiers Casino Has Soft Opening

SMoKe was gating from Luna this evening to the new casino in Magincia. Needless to say I could not resist and checked out this new player run event. Well, before I could even think about the gambling itself my breath was taken away from the sheer design talent and creativity of the plot. The slot machines on the first floor are true genius. I will not show you this floor nor the top floor as I want to encourage everyone to check out this design marvel.

The middle floor is where the action was taking place during my visit with Ghost Mobile in the role of dealer. Several people were at the table gaming away.

This evening was a soft opening with a major opening in the near feature. Please check this place out even if gambling is not your cup a tea. Player run events have a long history on Great Lakes and they all need our support!
