[EM Event] Faine and Fio’s Great Experiment

March 19, 2012 By: Larisa Category: Origin News

Fio shook her head and just stared at Faine, “You’ve GOT to be kidding me right?”

“Oh c’mon,” Faine responded with a grin, “What’s the worst that can happen? We’ve already crashed the shard, killed them all dozens of time, did the one thing with the self generating monsters, did the other thing with the evil twin that made them lose their armor right after they rezzed. This will be a piece of cake!”

“Besides,” Faine continued as she gleefully tossed bottles and potions at Fio to pack, “it’s for the good of…science! Yeah, that’s it, science! We need to find out the…ummmm, consequences of mixing those with the other things and then throwing in the players. They are a tough bunch. They’ll be fine!”

Fio glanced down at the bulging bag full of all manner of bottles of only god knew what. “I hope you know what you’re doing,” Fio sighed heavily, “And YOU better hope to heaven Mesanna doesn’t find out about this.”

What in the world could Faine and Fio be cooking up? Come find out Wednesday, March 21st @ 6:00 p.m. PST/9:00 p.m. EST. Gather at the Britain Counselor Guild – if you dare!

[EM Event] Consequences

Neil walked back to the Counselor’s Hall on his way from the adoption pen.

Sherry and Dacil were right. The citizens were more than happy to help gather up all the strays and contain them. Many were already on their way to new homes, the rest would have homes very soon. It had been a triumphant evening.

But as Neil walked over the bridge he smelled something odd. He shook his head and thought nothing of it, until he smelled it again, even a bit stronger. He went to the side of the bridge near the land and nearly fainted.

Piles of debris and trash was gathering under the bridge. In the piles, he thought he saw movement but wasn’t sure. He walked off the bridge and towards the bank of the canal. Taking a closer look, he quickly jumped back. Indeed things were moving in the canal.

Neil decided he better have a look around the city and as he approached each bridge he found the same problem… debris and trash gathering along the shores. Removing the cats and dogs had lead to another problem, the pests and vermin that they normally controlled were getting out of hand. But there were some cats and dogs left, but apparently not enough to curb the ever growing problem within the debris.

He shook his head and headed straight for the Counselor’s Hall, The Guildmasters were not going to be happy about this at all!

Neil thought to himself as his pace quickened after seeing something slither to the side, “I hope Dacil and the others will be willing to help again.”

Meet Dacil Dalgrin and Justicar Neil at Empath Abbey on Feb 28th @6:30 pm PST (9:30 pm EST)

[EM Fiction and Event] Gone to the Dogs (and cats)

February 23, 2012 By: Larisa Category: Origin News

As they walked into the winery the monks all nodded to Donal and to Sherry. Sherry nodded back to them as she looked around. Donal took Sherry into the storage room and there was a man that seemed familiar to Sherry but not quite. He was leaning back in a corner behind a pile of barrels with a bottle of wine nearly falling from his hand.

“Dacil,” Donal spoke to the man. The man jumped and nearly fell over.

“Oh Dacil, what am I going to do with you?”

“Um um… so sorry Donal, sir.” Dacil said as he tried to catch the bottle before it hit the floor.

“Dacil?” Sherry barely believed her own eyes. She looked again at the man then at Donal.

Yes, Dacil has been with us since Queen Dawn was struck down. He has been somewhat helpful around here.” Donal helped Sherry to the top of a barrel

“Why don’t you sit a bit Dacil?” Sherry offered more because she was afraid he might fall down than anything.

Dacil nodded and sat on the barrel closest to Sherry. His stench nearly blew the poor mouse into the floor. She regained her composure and looked to Donal.

“Perhaps some strong tea and water is in order?” Sherry asked. Donal nodded and sent for the items. He helped Dacil to a room in the Inn where he and Sherry began to nurse him back to some semblance of sobriety.

It was sometime later and after much tea and water being doused on him that Dacil was able to truly hold a proper conversation.

He began to wipe away some of the grim and excess water as he listened to Sherry and Donal relay the happenings of the realm.

“And why do I care?” he mumbled as he stumbled toward the door.

“Where are you going?” Sherry asked.

“To get another drink.” he mused with a smile.

“Do you really think I would allow you to drink again after nursing you back to health?” Donal and Sherry stepped in front of the man and stared.

Dacil looked from one to the other. Realizing he was in no shape to argue he sat back on the bed.Fine but I still don’t understand why you bothered or even expect me to care. I’ve been pulling my worth here and leaving all well enough alone. Why can’t you just leave me at that?”

Sherry crawled up beside the man and placed a paw on his hand. “Dacil, you are a brave and honorable man, what happened to you? You are more than this.”

“This?” Dacil nearly yelled and almost slammed a hand down on the mouse as he tried to regain himself. “This is what honor gets you! This is what becomes of a man that keeps doing the honorable thing, only to be left alone and the ones you support and admire dead!”

Sherry and Donal looked at one another “Dacil, man you’re not making sense.” Donal handed the man another cup of water.

“Twice I’ve pledged my weapons and know how to a strong leader and twice they are dead. Because I wasn’t the man I should have been!” Dacil looked very sad for a moment, and then he began to sob. “I cannot face THIS anymore.” he began to drink from the cup handed to him then threw it down. “I want ale!” he then announced and started to get back up. Donal stopped him.

Sherry asked the question that was going through both of their heads, “Dacil, what do you mean because of you? Dawn died at the hands and deceit of Virtuebane. You did everything in your power you help her.”

Dacil shook his head. “Just like my captain in the shipping lanes.” he sighed then shuddered. “I left for schooling and he and my shipmates were attacked by pirates. I should have been there, I should have died with them.” he sobbed then mumbled, “Same with Dawn, I was off doing something else! I should have been there to save her!”

Sherry and Donal looked at each other and back at the sobbing man. They had to get him back on his feet. The realm needed people like him now more than ever. He is a good man and strong man that has had too many blows to his sense of honor. But not in this shape.

“Let’s get him sobered up completely before we try to talk to him,” Sherry nodded to Donal as he eased the still wobbly man back onto his bed.

A few days passed and though at first Dacil insisted on wine and ale, Sherry and Donal managed to get the man sobered up and thinking a bit more clearly.

“I am sorry for the trouble I’ve caused,” he said as he washed his face with some cool water.
Sherry sat on the edge of the bed and watched the man. “It was no trouble at all.”

“We need to you to help the people of the realm.” Sherry said tentatively and watched for any reaction from Dacil. “It’s what Dawn would have wanted. She trusted you. Even to her death she knew you would do the right thing.”

Dacil shook his head, “I…I can’t. I couldn’t even go to her funeral. What does that say about me?”

“You are an honorable man,” Sherry said as she watched Dacil sit back down. “It was difficult for you. No one but yourself is blaming you for what happened.”

“Do you think your previous captain or Dawn would want you to wallow in such self pity?” Sherry said very sternly, she thought maybe it was time for a bit of tough love.

Dacil shook his head and then lowered it.

“And don’t you think you owe it to them, to honor their memories to do the right thing?” she said even a bit more harshly.

Dacil thought on that for a few moments. He dearly loved his captain, he was like a father to him and he highly respected Dawn and everything for which she stood. And now the realm needed him more than ever and here he was hiding in a bottle.

“No more!” he suddenly shouted, startling the poor mouse.

He looked at Sherry and quickly apologized.

“Go tell Donal I am ready.  I’m ready to do what is right and honorable,”

Sherry nodded and went to tell Donal the good news. She smiled a bit to herself as she left. “I knew he was the right man.”

Donal came running up at that moment.

“There is a problem in Vesper.”

[EMEvent] Rosemerry’s Dismay

Posted on January 20, 2012 by EMFio

Rosemerry sat and looked about the empty shop. She had only just received the deed and began preparation to decorate and stock the shop with the help of the kind citizens. And now she had before her a pile of letters stating for various reasons why she couldn’t get the goods she needed to open her shop.

Letters from farmers stating why there was no fruits and vegetables.

Letters from the rancher about why there would be no milk and butter.

Notes from the merchants stating they couldn’t deliver her goods even if she could get them made.

And now she looked at a letter from an unscrupulous character claiming he could get her the goods she needed…  at a price… one she could not afford given she had nothing to make anything with much less make any money. She crumpled up that one and tossed it at the fire.

Rosemerry walked through her shop and blew out the candles one by one.

“Best not waste those either, “ she mumbled to herself. “Things seem to be getting harder and harder”

She locked the door behind her as she had made up her mind to see if she could get more information as to why there were problems fillings her orders. Rosmerry always believed if there was a problem it should be handled face to face.

A messenger approached her and she nodded.

“Oh yes. Please deliver this to Donal at Empath Abbey.” He took the message and shuddered. She looked strangely at him as he walked away. She then began walking towards the Inn that had become her home recently. “Such troubling things indeed.”

Later at Empath Abbey…

Taryn walked in the door after going to the market and watched Donal walking around the lab getting frustrated and realized he was looking for something  and not finding what he was looking for.

“Anything I can help you with?” she asked as she set down a few small pouches on the table.

He looked through a shelf full of bottles and mumbled to himself. then realized she had said something to him.

“Hrmm, I can’t seem to find an empty bottle in which to mix a new potion,” he looked back at her after climbing a a small step ladder to look on another shelf. “Didn’t you get those supplies I asked for?”

She shook her head at him laughing a bit, “I just got back, but i couldn’t get most of the supplies.” she frowned as he walked past her and looked through the pouches without a word. “The shop owners are having troubles getting things they need from suppliers and the merchants apparently are refusing to ship many items.”

“Refusing?” Donal suddenly stopped his searching and looked at Taryn. He then went to his desk and retrieved a letter from Rosemerry. He handed it to Taryn and began searching again.

Taryn looked at her old mentor and was concerned but read the letter.

Dearest Donal,

I want to thank you again for all the help you and Taryn have given me to start my life anew in Britain. However it seems I’ve come across some problems getting goods and services to begin baking and distilling again.

I’d like for Taryn to come with me to help me manage my way around the towns and see what’s going on myself. As long as she doesn’t make me jump through too many of those gates she likes to throw around. You know how lost I can get these days, but still despise those things. But I really feel like this is something that needs to be looked into and I’m hearing stories of caravans and travelers being attacked. So her company would be much appreciated.

Thank you so much,
Rosemerry

Taryn looked at Donal.

“Do I assume this mean you want me to help Rosemerry?” she looked at the monk still chasing down an empty bottle and smiled, as Donal waved his hand and nodded towards her.

[OOC] Please meet with Taryn at the Councilor’s Hall on Sunday, Jan 22nd at 5 pm PST (8 pm EST)

[EM EVENT] Of Sand and Glass

[EM Event]Of Sand and Glass

Posted on January 6, 2012 by EMFio

Taryn paced in front of the fire and worried at the necklace she wore around her neck, twisting the slender gold chain this way and that as she waited for Donal to finish his examination of Asurti’s spectacles. She’d tried to practice patience, she really had. She knew Donal would do everything in his own time but she wished his time kept pace with the rest of the world which, most often, it did not.

Donal sighed and looked over at Taryn, “Taryn, my dear, why don’t you go get a few more pieces of firewood and another candle or two. It would make it much easier to see in here and these old bones grow cold of late.”

Donal and Taryn both knew it was simply a make busy errand designed to give Taryn something to do and Donal some peace. Even so, Taryn went to do as she had been asked and returned a time later with some wood which she added to the already crackling fire and several candles which she lit and placed around the room.

As Taryn finished lighting the candles, Donal leaned back and pinched the bridge of his nose as he shut his eyes for a moment. When he opened them, he stared at Taryn and nodded.

“It’s as Asurti suspected I’m afraid,” Donal said wearily. “The spectacles are enchanted somehow. Something in the glass but I can’t quite get to it completely. There’s a spell over the enchantment to protect it and shield it. It doesn’t seem to be something that can just be undone and the shielding is making even the aura of the enchantment very subtle. If you were not looking for it, you’d not know it was there. It’s amazing Asurti was able to ascertain that these were causing the problem. We have to find out more about this.”

“I suppose the best place to start would be with the Spectacles crafter,” Taryn mused out loud, “I’ll get Asurti and we’ll go have a talk with him.”

Holding a hand up before Taryn could rush out the door, Donal cautioned, “Be careful my dear. Whatever is behind this is evil. The way the stories have been corrupted has shown that. Don’t take this lightly. It could be dangerous to track this down.”

With her hand on the door knob, Taryn looked seriously at Donal and said, “Well, I guess we should take some help along then shouldn’t we?”

Please meet Taryn and Asurti at Empath Abbey in Yew on Sunday Jan 8th at 4 pm pst (7 pm  est)

[EM Event]Home for Christmas

[EM Event]Home for Christmas

The Sugar Plum Fairy crept quietly through the icy corridors, hugging the walls and trying not to make a sound as her wings shivered with trepidation. She wasn’t sure exactly what she was nervous about. As a rule she loved the ice and the cold. Ice Dungeon was inhabited by some things with sharp teeth, that was true but nothing she hadn’t faced before and they usually left her alone when she was protected by Christmas Magic.

The fairy thought back to her few days in this strange and wonderful land and all the people she had met and places she had seen. She had been having such fun seeing everything and meeting everyone and the people seemed to enjoy the gifts. She knew there were still a few days left for her to accomplish her mission before she could head home but she was already dreaming of seeing her sisters and spending Christmas with her family as she did every year.

Lost in dreams of Christmas and home, the Sugar Plum Fairy almost didn’t see the danger until it was too late. Gasping she quickly backed up and peered around the corner. This was bad. This was very, very bad. The one creature of winter who cared nothing for Christmas unless he could destroy it and somehow he’d learned she was here! Judging by the looks of things, getting home for Christmas might require more than the Christmas Magic she possessed.

Slowly backing out of the dungeon, quieter than the quietest Christmas Mouse, the Sugar Plum Fairy headed out to deliver some more gifts. Taking a deep breath she decided she’d just have to worry about getting home when it was time. Christmas was a time of magic and miracles so surely somehow she’d be able to get home for Christmas. Maybe those nice EM’s could help.
———————————–
OOC: Please gather at the Counselor’s Hall in West Britain on Friday, December 23rd at 6:00 p.m. PST to lend assistance if needed getting the Sugar Plum Fairy home.

Please note, you should not come expecting a special drop other than a last chance to get a paper dragon if you have not done so. This event is intended to be a wrap up to the Sugar Plum Fairy’s visit and a way to thank her for coming to our shard. Everyone should be able to be home for Christmas if they can. *smiles*

If you have plans with your family and loved ones for that evening, do not fear you will miss anything other than some fun and companionship in game and, of course, perhaps a death robe or two to keep you warm.

[EM Event]A Festive Appearance

Posted on December 19, 2011 by EMFio

The Sugar Plum Fairy looked at the directions Santa Claus had given her to find Sosaria. She had promised him that she would deliver a special gift from the EM’s this year. He told her the best way to get there was through the Ice Dungeon. As she used her powers to hide from the inhabitants, she carefully carried her charge with her. Finally she was through the dungeon and began to look for inhabitants of this world. She had never been to these lands but Santa assured her it was like any other place, full of both Nice and Naughty folks. Soon she found a road and began to follow it…. [OOC] Keep your eyes out for the Sugar Plum Fairy… coming to a town near you. She will appear at different times and locations and will announce her presence in the general chat.
