Trillium’s Music Shoppe and Magic Emporium Closes For Good !

Several weeks ago Agemnon posted on the Great Lakes boards he was having a going away party today and that he did. All were welcome. You may know Agemnon by other names such as  Trillium, Lone Wolf, Guenthar, Arthur Dent or Lorisanthala.

After eight years Agemnon has decided it is time to move to new adventures outside of the realm. His time on Great Lakes was a grand one and he wanted to give back by having this going away party.

I arrived to the party which was small and intimate. Just a handful of people remembered about this event which was rather good for those that attended. Agemnon had selected special items for Lady Lava and I thank him. One by one he unlocked the chests in the Emporium and what an array of items there was to be had. He encouraged people to get beetles and pack horses and some did.

Above is a screenshot of some of the party goers. In between unlocking chests , crates and items, fireworks could be seen and heard through the structure. After the items were all had and the booze gone, tamers were given fully trained pets. It is always sad to see someone leave Great Lakes and our world but we wish Agemnon all the best of luck in whatever he pursues. Hosting an event was a very class act way of exiting.

Audition Time

.

There is going to be a play* at the King’s Men Theater in Britain. This is a casting call for someone, male or female, to play Mr. Punch. The director believes in method acting, so be prepared for combat. However, dragons may not audition and will not be of use to you in this audition. Aspiring actors should meet at the theater on Saturday 7-20, at 8:00 p.m. CDT.
*There will not be a play.

In Sosaria, a Punch and Judy show is done by live actors, not puppets. You’ll audition as a group, the way dancers sometimes do. The director will tell you your lines in chat, so be sure to be in “EM Event” chat.
Bring a character who can put aside all thoughts of personal dignity. If he or she is not comfortable running through the streets of Britain waving a string of sausages while singing and assaulting shopkeepers, then that might not be the right character with which to audition.
Originating over 350 years ago from the Commedia dell’arte, Punch and Judy shows are a favorite entertainment on English beaches. If you like, you can see videos or peruse scripts at various sites, such as:

Having Fun With The King’s Collection

Last week I was at the lovely home owned by Harion which is located on one of the beautiful Tokuno Islands. Harion’s home is a meeting spot for many of the people of Great Lakes to meet before and after group hunts. I could not help but notice an item on the roof of this structure that looked like a grey plant. Plants in game and in real life are often a weakness of mine. On closer inspection I found out it was a sponge, a cactus sponge.

There was no doubt in my mind I had to have one of these. Harion generously gave me one and it was in deed form. Quickly I returned to my Luna Manse to place this new treasure and to my shock I had to have The King’s Collection Theme Pack to place it.  The last thing I need after playing UO for so many years is more items, though there is always room for a special one. Well, I went along and purchased it and it gave me such inspiration. I was so excited about the new items that I redid sections of my house which I had not done in several years. This theme pack includes,

• 3 new lamps 
• 2 new Ornate Tables 
• 1 new bookcase 
• 1 new Bell 
• 4 types of sponges – the Barrel sponge will give you 5 random potions a day 
• 5 new pictures – the Burning Man picture will give a .1 sot a week and the Sailing Ship will give 50 Power Charges a week 
• 2 new tapestries 
• 2 new poster beds 

And  if that were not enough there are also a bunch of new craftables.  Below are a few images of how I used these new items in my house.

Summer Camp took place last night and it should have been called Killer Camp !

.

A rather impressive size of people gathered in Brit yesterday excited about going to summer camp. Cricket and Chip the camp guides greeted everyone and gave warnings and new rules for this year. The males and females went to separate camps this year. Girls went to Camp Silver Swan Lake with the boys attending Camp Rugged Hunter Mountain. I can only report on Camp Silver Swan Lake. Also new this year, pets were allowed on the camp grounds.

Everyone first huddled around the campfire as our guide informed us how important safety is. Grub was handed out to all the campers and before long there was a food fight! Kids will be kids.

We were all warned to the dangers of the harmful rays of the sun and many wore sunscreen but the sun at this camp was way beyond the help from sunscreen. This sunburn was so intense it killed campers !

After the sunburn the day at camp went down hill from crazy violent bears to killer poison ivy not to mention a hateful angry moose. Death, death and more death. Oh yes and the nasty biting mosquitoes.

The screenshots above give proof to the name Killer Camp. As if plant and animal attacks were not enough our sleeping tents were not constructed correctly and started caving in on us.

With no tents to sleep in we were all sent home. There were grumbles from many of the girls as we were sent home without doing arts and crafts. We were promised we could make a wooden statue to take home to our parents. Well there is always next summer and another year of summer camp on Great Lakes.

History was made last night at the Council meeting.  For the first time governors have been elected on Great Lakes and they were introduced last night during the meeting in the company of and at the same table as the king! It was a monumental moment indeed.

The grand table set up was perfect for this meeting, though a request to rearrange patron chairs was addressed. At the end of the table there was a book with the meetings order of topics to be covered.

There were many supporters attending this event and when I looked around this large room some of the faces I saw were, Lord Thorreain, Xuri, Neptune, Fatal Error, Lord DaKaren, Martyna Z’muir, Lord Earlhad Todie, Lord John, Princess Amara, Noone, Milano, Sya, Callie, Lord NightStalker, Trendallyn, Lady Moonrush, Briar Rose, Ermac Firebrand, Mike Litoris, Agilar, Lord Sigma and David Burnside to name a few.

For me the most exciting part of the evening was the introductions of the new governors and hearing how they spoke and what the goals were they had for the future. Below are those that sat at this table, governors and the king.

Needless to say the king started the meeting and it ran rather smoothly. As with any gathering there is always some drama, upset and show of bad manners. I must admit right here and now I threw Messanna’s Cream Pies at Lord DaKaren, Martyna and Lady Moonrush at some point, of course not when the king was speaking. Lord Archus extended his hand to the king to shake and there was a hush in the room with a look of shock and horror on all faces. The king with a frown on his face did shake his hand. One NEVER shakes the king’s hand or puts him in that position. A bow is what is called for and nothing else!

It was WILLIAM WALLACE that was most inappropriate of the evening, which is not unusual for this person. Rather than waiting until the appropriate time to ask a question he repeatedly interrupted the governors as they were introducing themselves. He kept asking the same question over and over again. People kindly asked him to wait until the right time for questions. Of course this did not stop him. Politeness turned to bluntness as the crowd got more annoyed until finally the king himself had to address this bad behavior. This did not stop WILLIAM, he kept on until finally he left as know one was interested in his attention seeking drama complaining the entire time as he exited the castle.

Many issues were addressed during the meeting including Magnus Grey who gave a short security briefing and a member of The Rangers of Skara Brae addressed the king with concerns, to name just two.

This summer, you’re going to camp! Meet your camp counselors at the Britain Counselor Hall, on Saturday, at 8:00 p.m. CDT. Girls will be going to Camp Silver Swan Lake. Boys will be going to Camp Rugged Hunter Mountain. The camps are quite similar in that you have the same chance of being trampled by an angry moose at either.

Governor of Britain Manx Cannot Introduce Himself ~

Governor’s  have won the elections and what a fine group it is.

Alista Laleyan, Governor of Jhelom and Willa of the Yew-Wood, Governor of Yew have both posted introductions on the Great Lakes boards. I highly recommend you check them out. Manx the Governor of Britain planned on posting an introduction today but a minor tragedy has struck.

Manx contacted me early this morning informing me of a grand storm hitting his area. This storm has left him with no power until Monday. He told me he was thankful for two things. One he had camping gear close by and could make himself morning coffee . The other thing was that he had a solar charger for his cell phone and could contact me and others. Needless to say this has left him out of the realm until Monday.  Manx has been a Great Lakes players for many a year and a member of the -Y- Guild. Rumor has it he favors the black arts, mainly magery. Britain mages should fair well under his reign. Anyone that has crossed Manx’s path knows he is a helpful generous player.

 

On the subject of the new Governors I want to remind all there is a Council Meeting June 28th at 8PM CDT where you can meet the new people in power.

If you would like to leave a comment or suggestion to any of the new Governors there is a north side Luna location, within the city walls, set up with boards to leave those encouraging words. Not only is the Britannian Consolate and Ministry of Foreign Affairs a nice way to have exchanges with these new people but the plot is a very handsome design.
