GOF Guild Makes Great Lakes History …

.

Guild of Friends has been hosting bi-weekly net tosses and I attended yesterdays and it was great fun !

FCB in the past has hosted several net tosses a year but this bi-weekly GOF event is making Great Lakes history. I spoke with Legendary Fisher Emelyne Shay, a member of GOF, and she informed me that June 21st will be the tenth bi-weekly net toss and because of this anniversary date much more than sea creatures and Scalis will be on the menu that day. Be sure to check the Great Lakes boards for updates on this upcoming anniversary event.

As with all net tosses death was all around me and not just deep sea monsters. I think I saw Kittie dead more times than water eels.

Buc Den Docks is the location for this action event and it was well attended. Lord Special Ed, Kisar Sosey, Amberwine, blanc De blanc, Odin, Zoltan, Raving Lunatic, Lord Cire, Lord Apollo, John, Lord Silverwing and Verity Jane were a few faces and corpses I can remember seeing about.

Miss Kitty and Friends Keep Purring

.

Player run events are going strong on Great Lakes and two auction houses are keeping the tradition alive. Miss Kitty and her gang have their claws out on Monday evenings bringing you the best at Alliance Auctions.

This past Monday I attended the auction with my old friend Manx and things were leaping. By mid auction the place was full. As I looked around I noticed some old and new faces including Princess Amara, A Crack Fiend, Lord Padish, Kahn, Calista, Night Wind, Captain Murphy, Black Widow, Gannon, Peace, Anisha, Bruce, Tiggermcat, Lord Valeran, Lord Drew, Stoney, Manadoose, Estaish, Dilemma, Lord NIGHT, Pickle, Lezzie, Dr Pee, Manya, Lord Iggy The Great, Pal, and Lady Tweety just to name a few.

Stationed around the auction house were security squirrels. Though tough in a pack they were no match for a group of Tsuki Wolves being lured by a nasty person trying to upset the evenings program. This caused some death including the person luring the wolves which gave great joy and delight to the patrons.

As with all Monday auctions Let’s Make A Deal was played, a patron favorite. Many exciting items went up on the block including Mini House Deeds, Banner Deeds, Colorful Roses, Plant Deeds, Holiday Décor, Hair Dye, Compassions Eye, Tokens, Rubble, Weapons, Mounts, Coffee Plants, the list goes on and on.

Gates for Monday night auctions are provided inside the Luna Bank. If one auction a week is not enough for you or just a day that does not work within your game time remember the Grand Daddy of them all MOA is on Thursday evenings. Gates also provided within the Luna Bank.

Brialla’s Annual Journey

January 28, 2015 By: Lady Lava Category: Great Lakes News

This just in from EMElizabella …

Brialla of the Seven Tears was the first to chart the mysterious north lands of Britannia. Brialla set out from Yew, in her humble brown monk’s robe and bare feet, to push back the dark corners of the map. Her journals are rich with illustrations and detailed descriptions of the terrain, its plants and animals, and the nomads she met along the way. She even found the mineral deposits in the mountains by what would become Minoc.

Every year, in late January, the people of Britannia celebrate Brialla’s journey by donning monks’ robes and walking barefoot from Yew to Minoc. There, they toast to her memory in the tavern. All are encouraged to tell whatever legends they’ve heard of Brialla’s journey or to describe their own adventures.

Meet Louisa Clark in front of Empath Abbey on Friday, January 30th, at 8 p.m. CST. The traditional robe can be acquired, for a nominal donation, from the monks in the Yew Winery. This year, journeyers are asked to be armored and armed under their robes.

Lady Lava’s Year End Letter

LAVA

Dear Fine Folks of Great Lakes,

Another year is behind us and I scratch my head wondering where it went. The greater part of the day today was spent taking down my holiday decorations inside and out, carefully packing them away for another year. This is my tradition, all décor comes down on New Years Day. My other tradition is this year end letter and it has been going strong for over a decade.

Though I enjoy the Thanksgiving Christmas holiday season in the realm my favorite is always Halloween. Though it had a late start this year it was rather wonderful. My large skull collection from that season is one of my favorite items at this time to look at and doom item drop collecting brought many old players and new together.

My fondest UO Christmas memories are the years I attended and /or assisted Pratt at the annual Christmas event MOA puts on each year. Sadly the past three years I have not been able to attend as I was taking a class and now teaching a class on Thursday evenings. Melian however reports that this years holiday event was as grand as ever. I have however gotten my auction need in from time to time at The Alliance Guild Auction on Monday evenings.  Though I was not able to see Santa this year I did make it to many plots decorated full of cheer and holiday glow. Several were highlighted in previous posts and I have included a few more at the end of this letter. UO has always been a release, a relax and sometimes even an escape for me. The past three years has not allowed me in the realm as previous years have but I still get on enough to get my fix and mingle with old friends and meet a few new ones. Lady Lava does love to hunt ! 2014 was a great year for  me personally and I hope 2015 stays on that path for me and for all of you!

Fondly, Lady Lava

p.s. Great Lakes has the best EMs and they made 2014 even better!

Christmas Give and Take also a Little UO Hanukkah

Christmas Give & Take and a Little UO Hanukkah

.

Last week I posted a few screenshots of merchants in Luna dressed for the season and gave a call out for more decorated plots. The first to reply was that very active man about town Olive Isbane. I was whisked to his very impressive Felucca crib. The anticipation was high for holiday cheer and to my surprise it was a celebration of Hanukkah. Olive created a menorah celebrating his very own tower/festival of light. This week starts the first day of Hanukkah so the timing was perfect. It was a nice reminder that there are UO players of all faiths.

My next stop was that of the over the top Christmas scream created by Deborah II. I have hunted in the past with Deborah and she is always helpful and charming. Who knew she had an addiction to Christmas items and has such talent. Her place is not just about her own personal pleasure but it has the true meaning of giving. All of the gift boxes and Christmas stockings on each floor are open to all. Take a gift and leave a gift if you can. This set up is always helpful for new players. The cords to this location are,  42o  17’N 40o 51E  Hopefully marked runes will be dropped around Luna in the days to come before Christmas.
