[EM Event] A Plot Uncovered

August 16, 2012 By: Larisa Category: Origin News

emtar looked up and scowled at the insistent banging on his door. The past few weeks had tried his patience to its end and he was in no mood to listen to more prattling about plots while no substantive proof was provided. He knew damn well there was a traitorous plot going on. He simply had been unable to find out who was behind it or what it’s ultimate goal was. He was hanging onto what little patience he had left by the tips of his talons. He sincerely hoped the citizens of Britannia had been more successful than he but he knew he had to give them time to complete their investigations.

“Yes?! What IS it?” he barked as the knocking became more insistent.

The door opened to reveal what he could only assume was a human, although, under the thick layer of grime it was hard to tell. Lemtar debated moving closer to try to confirm it was human but just then a powerful stench reached him and he decided that his seat near the open window was purely providential.

The filthy figure stalked into the room, slammed a rolled up parchment on the desk and turned on his heel. Just before reaching the door, he turned to spit on the floor and mutter, “Damned Gargoyles, should rip the wings off’n all ya kind” before slamming out.

Lemtar eyes widened a bit in surprise at the rudeness as he turned his attention to the parchment. Sliding his jeweled dagger under the seal, he began to read the short message. It seemed the human mercenary leader Joan was requesting a meeting. She “said” she had the information she’d promised.

While Lemtar did not trust Joan any further than a new born hatchling could carry her, he thought he could at least see if there was an honorable spark yet left as she had claimed. Composing a note quickly, he called a messenger and stressed that the news must be spread in all the lands of Britannia as well as in Ter Mur.

He wondered how on earth he’d manage to keep his sanity until the appointed time arrived.

“Meet Lemtar at the Ter Mur moongate, Saturday, August 18th @ 7p.m. PST. The time has come to put a stop to the treachery.”

[EM Event] Mercenary Investigations

August 03, 2012 By: Larisa Category: Origin News

Lemtar’s ‘investigation’ to find out who was hiring mercenaries to stop all shipments to the infected Ver Lor Reg gargoyles in Ter Mur, didn’t go as planned. It was supposed to be an investigation! Not a life and death battle! But that’s what it turned into. And all Lemtar had to protect himself with was his fine palace attire. Silks don’t hold up well against blades and jaws of death.

Lemtar found Princess Rhista in the room at the quarantine camp she had adopted as her office. She took one look at him and demanded, ‘What happened?’

Lemtar cringed inside and began his report, ‘As you suggested, we went to talk with the gargoyles who have made camp outside of Vesper. They have also sent supplies to Ter Mur, none of which arrived. They believe raiders may be responsible. In fact, while we were there, raiders attacked. The humans were able to fight them off.’

‘They are good fighters. Many of our people underestimate the humans,’ Pincess Rhista gave him a knowing look. ‘Continue.’

‘We found a human who arranged a meet with one of the raiders – Joan. But it wasn’t a meet, it was a trap. We were set upon by hell hounds. The humans were able to defeat them, barely…’ Lemtar bowed his head as he continued, ‘I’m sorry Princess, we weren’t able to learn anything useful.’

‘What are your plans?’

‘To go back and talk to the human who sent us to that trap,’ growled Lemtar. This time he would have armor, sharpened talons and plenty of steel when he met the human.

Please meet Lemtar at Ter Mur Moongate Sunday, 8/5 at 4 p.m. PST

[EM Event] Uncertain Refuge

July 13, 2012 By: Larisa Category: Origin News

Word has reached Dupre of a band of gargoyles refusing to join the other refugees headed to sanctuary in Ter Mur. Unfortunately, these gargoyles have left themselves open to attacks by roaming bands of brigands and angry citizens who feel there is not enough land and food to sustain the gargoyles along with their families.

Please meet Dupre at his camp outside Vesper Saturday, July 14th at 7 p.m. PST to help investigate the problem and see if there’s any hope of a resolution, preferably peaceful.

[EM Event] Summerfest 2012

July 06, 2012 By: Larisa Category: Origin News

With the temperatures outside soaring to the level of “OMG is that REALLY necessary”, it seems a fine time to sit inside and play a little UO and have some fun!

Come join Faine and Sangria at the Awards House on Sunday, July 8th at 2 p.m. Pacific for some summer time fun and frolics. There will be fun, death robes, games, death robes, dessert (no I’m not cooking but there will still be death robes) to be had by all.

If you have any snowballs or cream pies you might want to bring them along. After all, what is Summer without a food/snowball fight right? Just sayin!

A gate will be provided from Luna or you can hop the vortex at the Couselor’s Hall in Britain. Again, that’s Sunday, July 8th @ 2 p.m. Pacific. Hope to see you there!

[EM Event] A Call to Arms

June 20, 2012 By: Larisa Category: Origin News

Dupre scowled as he read the latest report and slammed his fist onto the table rattling the dishes laid out almost as much as the young soldier standing by the doorway.

“Enough,” he said with a flinty gaze at the junior officer standing in front of him. “The time has come to act. The people of this land have proven themselves courageous and willing to fight for what they believe in. Send word, it’s time to put an end to this!”
——————–
A notice tacked to every bulletin board across the lands reads: “Assemble Friday, the 22nd of June at 6:30 P.M. by the Pacific moon. Travel gates will be provided from the bank in the city of Luna and the Counselor’s Guild Hall in the city of Britain. Come prepared. Not all will survive.”

[EM Event] An Innocent Man?

June 16, 2012 By: Larisa Category: Origin News

Asurti looked up at the sound of approaching footsteps. Perhaps this time they were finally coming to tell him this horrible time was all a misunderstanding and he was free to go. Asurti couldn’t say he’d been treated badly at all. For the most part, he’d been treated fairly well. His guard was a quiet sort but brought him good meals and never insulted him. No, Asurti’s biggest problem was sheer boredom. He dared not tell a single story, even to himself for fear of the repercussions. This situation was enough of a nightmare without making things worse.

The footsteps came closer and stopped outside his cell. Asurti moved to the iron door and peered through to see the Chief Magistrate of Yew standing before him.

“Well, Storyteller,” the man said, “It seems that the date of your hearing has been set. In two days from this time, you will have the opportunity to hear if anyone has found any evidence to refute the charges against you. The crimes you are accused of are vile but there is no wish to put an innocent man to death. The Commander himself is coming from Trinsic to make sure everything is handled properly.”

Asurti felt the blood leave his head and stumbled back to his cot. He sent up fervent prayers that someone had been able to find the evidence to clear him. He was afraid he knew who was responsible for the crimes but would anyone believe it? Would anyone believe HIM? Two days…two days and he supposed he’d find out.

Any citizens having any information concerning this matter are urged to attend the hearing Sunday, June 17th at 6 p.m. PST at Yew Prison in the hearing room on the lower level. All citizens are urged to come bear witness and help provide security for the proceedings.

[EM Event] A Side Order of Bacon Please

June 08, 2012 By: Larisa Category: Origin News

Asurti stepped into his favorite Inn in Skara Brae and breathed deeply, enjoying the smell of coffee brewing and bread rising. His stomach grumbled and his mouth watered thinking of the breakfast he intended to enjoy. He looked around the room smiling a bit and nodding pleasantly to the few sleepy faces sitting at the tables. Asurti fully expected to encounter friendly nods back as he had every morning since he’d arrived on the shores of this land.

After a few moments, however, Asurti smile faded and he noticed that every person who met his eye only did so briefly before turning away and busying themselves with their platters and mugs. A few avoided his eye completely and he was perplexed when his favorite waitress took one look at him and bolted for the kitchen like a rabbit with a pack of hounds nipping at her heels.

As he was pondering this strange behavior, he saw Artemia approaching him. He knew the ranger slightly from his forays around Skara Brae but they were only acquaintances at best. He knew that Artemia had been the one to find Viktor badly beaten at the side of the roads months before and had been kept busy since trying to protect the roads from the band of wandering theives and ruffians.

“Storyteller, you may want to find your breakfast elsewhere. The people are tense enough as it is,” Artemia stated firmly, blocking Asurti’s path further into the room.

Asurti looked at Artemia in confusion but took her advice and abandoned his breakfast plans after looking around the room once more quickly. He made his way through Skara heading to the moongate and onto Britain. As he passed, he noticed the tense look on the citizens faces and the way they moved away from him quickly.

Musing as he walked, Asurti’s face suddenly cleared as it hit him, “Why it’s been too long since the citizens have had a good story! Of course that’s it! Poor things, their lives are so hard now they need a distraction and some entertainment.”

Asurti began chuckling to himself as he formulated an evening’s entertainment for the citizens. “Why, I know JUST the tale!”

Asurti started whistling happily as his stride picked up and he hurried to send the word out to all corners of the land.
