(Player Event) Barter Town Casino Night – Next: Sunday May 18th 6:00pm EST

About:

  • “Casino Night” is going to be Barter Town’s signature, recurring, shard wide event. We hope to hold this event multiple times, either every other week or monthly.
  • We’re completely ripping off the Knuckleheads casino games & rules from their casino on Drachenfels. All credit goes to them. Don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise.
  • Currently, all games in the casino are dice games. Scroll down to see a copy of the rule book. (There are also copies of this rule book inside the casino itself.)
  • All exchanges of money will be done with blessed checks.
  • No fighting in the casino.
  • No stealing in the casino… within reason. For the most part, if you’re here for the event, you’ll be left alone by us. If you’re outside with an non-cursed Ornament of the Magician then you’re just asking to be stolen from.
  • You will be required to hand over your wager first. After the game is complete, then we’ll hand back your winnings.
  • You’ll have to take my word for this but, ALL GAMES ARE LEGIT. Like I stated above, this is planned to be a recurring event and no one will ever return if we start cheating people out of their money. Ironically, the truth is that a legit casino will probably generate more gold than a corrupt casino.
  • The doors to the 2nd floor will be set to “anyone” on the day of an event. (Otherwise, they will be secure. But the 1st floor of to the casino bar is always public and has a public Crystal Portal if you’re ever in the area.

How to Play:

  • There are 2 tables in the casino, each table able to accept up the 3 players and 1 dealer each.
  • Once you find an open seat, you can stay for as long as you like, for as long as the event runs. First come first serve. If you see other people waiting for their turn, it’s up to you if you want to give up your seat.
  • This means that up to 6 people will be able to play at a time (as long as there are at least 2 dealers available for that event date.)
  • At the table, each of the 3 players will take turns choosing a game and announcing a wager (and handing their check to the dealer).
  • We will be accepting wagers of 10k, 100k, and 1 Million Gold. We’ll have some checks for purchase on vendors, but please try and bring some of your own checks in advance.
  • There are a total of 6 different dice games to choose from.
  • After a game is set and a wage is made, you’ll then follow the rules stated in the rule book for the chosen game. If you win, you’ll be paid your winnings immediately. After you’re done, the next person at the table will repeat this process.
  • If you want to see a casino in action, please check out this Knuckleheads produced Youtube video HERE. We’re going to run it exactly the way you see it in the video.

Why are we doing this?

  • It’s about time Barter Town had it’s own signature event.
  • This event will directly bring people to Barter Town.
  • This event will indirectly bring people to Siege Perilous.
  • It fits the theme of the town.
  • It seems like a good fit. It’s an in-game player run event where only blessed items are exchanged. A player can attend this event completely naked with nothing but blessed checks in their backpack and still participate fully.

Next Event:

  • The first ever Casino Night will be next Sunday at 6:00pm EST.
  • This is just a test run and it will only last for 1 hour. (We may extend the event time in later events.

For our eleventh maritime night : White net Toss

We Like to invite everyone for a white net toss event on Saturday 17 of May 2014.

Gathering at 20:30 CEST at New Magincia Docks.

We going to try to summon Osiredon the Scalis Enforcer a few times.

Be prepared for some heavy fighting!

Please feel free to join in the fun!

Donations of extra white nets to be used is welcomed!

Next friday, May the 16th, 20:30 CEST, we will visit the dungeon Destard. We will meet at the governor’s office in Moonglow.
Our goals are:

-To fill the zoo of Moonglow

-Auctioning the best Greater Dragon found to support the Moonglow trade deal

-Supporting adventurers in learning their trade

-Having an exciting evening in one of the most renowned places of the old Sosaria

In order to get that done I ask all tamers, mages, warriors, bards, and other types of adventurers to join us. We will support tamers who want to gain in skill while taming dragons in several ways.

1. NinaLuna donated one Animal Taming ‘Scroll of Alacrity’ and four Animal Lore SoAs, which will be handed to young tamers to speed their skill gains during this event.

2. All participants will support the taming process by separating dragons from each other, beating them down to low life for easier taming, peacemaking, healing, fast transport of tamed dragons to their destination, and so on.

3. By reducing the population fast the dragons will respawn fast as well. This means there is a much higher probability to find really good dragons for the tamers to keep. The best Greater Dragon we find will go to the stables of Moonglow – it will be auctioned later to fill the city treasure, to finance the trade deal for Moonglow.

4. Young tamers will have the opportunity to profit from the vast knowledge of the most experienced tamers among us.

In case we have enough numbers and volunteers, people not busy taming and transporting dragons are encouraged to go down to the lair of the Shadow Wyrms. The black dragon scales found will be worked into a Black Dragon Scale Armor. The armor will receive an engraving to remind of the dragon hunt. The participants may vote for a winner who will get this armor.
I invite any and all adventurers, whatever their profession may be, to join us in this hunt.

Town Guard Inductions

The Town Guard induction ceremony was held last night,  officiated by the newly re-instated Captain Kanlocke.

Several new members of the Guard were welcomed into the ranks of these stalwart defenders of Britannia.

After the ceremony,  Captain Kanlocke escorted the new recruits to Cora where a training session was held focusing on teamwork and strategy.

John Anderson led the group and  they made it to wave 32 before finally losing the Void Pool to Cora’s minions.

It is good to know that we have such hardy warriors looking out for the safety of our good citizens!

[EM News] An Explanation for My Absence

Dear Origin,

I wanted to write you all to let you know that I have not left you, or the EM program. I am still here and still, mostly, alive. However, this is one of the times where that annoying thing called real life has dealt me a bit of a bad hand.

I’m currently engaged in a priority one customer project at work. We hit a critical issue with one of our customers and I have been leading the team to try to resolve it. I’ve been working over 80 hours a week for the past few weeks and don’t see that changing for at least the rest of this month. I’m seriously not exaggerating when I say if I’m not sleeping, I’m working on this project. I’m eating my meals in front of the computer trying to sort through and straighten this out.

Unfortunately, it leaves very little time for family and no time for my Origin family currently. I promise you, I have not left you and I will be back in holding events, telling stories, threatening to cook things and just generally enjoying you all just as soon as I can. For the time being, however, I have to take care of this. I’m hoping to have it wrapped up by the end of the month, or, at the least, in a good enough state that it won’t require all of my waking time and energy.

A good flamestrike spell wouldn’t go amiss if anyone has one to spare…a time travel or “slow time down and let me catch up” spell would be nice too…

With heartfelt apologies and a promise to return as soon as humanly possible.
