SIR STANLEY – A POEM BY MAL OF EUROPA

There was an old knight named Sir Stanley,
Who rode about his village, quite manly,
He’s no real lord,
Yet he rules by the sword,
Demanding respect for his family.

From the mountains came a great Dragon,
Causing Sir Stanley to hide under his landing,
Then a young boy named Jed,
Rode and took the Dragons head,
Bringing the body back home in a wagon.

Sir Stanley rode of with great haste,
When he heard of the Dragons Ill fate,
Jed he pushed aside,
Taking the dragons hide,
And claiming then kill in ill taste.

Then came the mother of the Drake,
And although Sir Stanley told he was fake,
The wyrm ate him whole,
Swallowing armour, steed and all,
And burped up a piece of his plate.

So Jed rose to the challenge once more,
But was told “the taste of heros was a bore”
So the dragon’s now fled,
And with Sir Stanley dead,
It’s left Jed to take up the floor.
