Gaining skill in Camping is simple. All that is needed is to light campfires. Failing to light a campfire doesn’t use up kindling, so in the lower skill you will save some resources.

If you’re using a stack of NPC-bought kindling you may wish to make a simple “Last Item” macro in the client to save clicking. If you’re using player-harvested (non-stacking) kindling, a UO:Assist “Use Item Type” macro would help. Bind the macro to a key and mash away.

The following is a log of skill gain versus kindling use and time spent in training. The kindling was bought from NPC provisioners to minimise time spent gathering resources.

An average of 4gp was paid, 2-6gp from NPCs. The kindling was bought up from Luna and Zento provisioners as the former was close to the bank, and the latter were in great number.

The character in question had 620 of 720 skill points used; “guaranteed gains” were minimal. The skill was easily trained at Luna bank while socialising so, strictly speaking, faster gains could be expected if you ignore distraction.
