Went back to the AWA and found several patrons conversing with the proprietor over the relative strengths and weaknesses of different weapons. They even tried out a few tactics (such as explosions) to test some theories.

The GM Smith owner (named Miner) did a few repairs, and continued handing out food and drinks while I was there. Seems he also purchases magical weapons and resells them for reasonable fees. Seems a very good place to shop, talk, drink, and learn.
